Default 4th Dilation Tomorrow - wish me luck
Hi everyone!

My 4th dilation for my stricture is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30. Supposedly it's in an OR under general, but I've been told that before, so we'll see when I get there. Apparently I have a bad gag reflex and regular anesthesia doesn't put me under enough, I choke on the scope and have ripped my pouch 3 times already.

So, I'm tired, dehydrated and in pain. The meds are helping the pain, I'm drinking like crazy to help with my IV and I'm hoping this will be my last scope.

Oh my, I feel for you. 4 times. I had it done only once but I woulod not want it again. My surgeon just took me into a side office and sprayed 3 numbing sprays down my throat and inserted the scope into my stomach and did the dilation. It was all done in 3 minutes but it was unpleasant. Not painful just unpleasant. He put me on losec for 3 months to prevent it happening again. So far so good. That was 9 months ago.

I wish you well with your dilation. God's speed and hopefully this will be the last one.

Kath, I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I can only imagine how difficult this all has been for you. I wish you luck tomorrow - my thoughts and prayers are with you.
