| New Date!!!
Some of you might remember, I have had 4 surgery dates because my surgeon was having a family emergency. The coordinator pretty much told me to switch to another surgeon. I meet my new surgeon on Friday. He was soo nice and I felt he was much more knowledgeable. I was surprised because he actually looked at my mid section, my other surgeon never did that. I have a new date of Feb. 25, which is only 3 days after my last date. I also have a appt for an endoscopy. I am curious of knowing everyone experience with having an endoscopy? I know it is a camera tube that goes down your throat. They put you to sleep? How did you feel when you woke up?
It is finally going to happen!!!

I had an endoscopy. They did put me to sleep - but it was not the type of sedation that they do in an operating room. This does not even require an anestesiologist. The procedure is really quick, so they don't have to put you under so deep. I vaguely remembered them putting a round piece of plastic in my mouth, (to keep my mouth open) and telling me to swallow. Next thing I knew, I was waking up in the recovery room. I had a very minor sore throat - very minor! Piece of cake.

I had to have an endoscopy because of my history with ulcers. They lay you on your side, place a plastic piece in your mouth to protect the tube so you don't bite down on it and then shot you with the sedation. I don't remember a thing after that until I woke in recovery and my throat was a little sore. They had me on my feet in minutes and ready to go home. It was a breeze.

I had my endoscopy about 4 weeks ago. The whole appointment took about 2 hours. They give you an IV, you don't feel a thing! It was very easy. Apparently in recovery I would chat with my husband for a min or two, konk out, wake up and chat with him for another min or to (an exact repeat of the previous conversation!). I have no recollection of it! Make sure you don't have access to your I phone or blackberry because if you are like me you will be promising things to people that you have no memory of the next day! Good choice...switching surgeons. Your date will be here before you know it.
Nothing to the endoscopy. There are some doctors who spray the back of your throat & send the tube in while you're awake. Others like mine insisted on sedation. The sedation was very light. I was at the hospital for just under an hour from registration to exit. No sore throat.
