| I'm home from hospitol, I'm in pain & confused!! Hi Everyone, surgery was tues.for ds. my surgeon said I had alot on scaring on my stomach and post hernia repairs and with my size he decided to do my ds in 2 parts . he said he only gave me the sleeve and my stomach was abnormally large(thanks) so he made it smaller then if I had gotten the full surgery and since my stomach will strecth some it will be the perfect size when he doesn't the second part anywhere from 9 to 15 months. Once I get to a maintained weight. I will admit I am very disappointed he told me he had patients my size or larger before and was able to do the full procedure. I do know this was much safer. Now I don't know where I am ds,rny, what? I feel lost because I don't know what to do? I had researched so much I knew what to eat and everything? What plan do I follow? Will I still lose weight even though I didn't get the full ds.? I'm trying really hard to drink as eating isn't high on the what to do list. I think I'm so disappointed that I'm letting it take over my recouperation. I just sit and cry , I don't feel like I have anything in common with you guys anymore ,I feel like if I wasn't so big I could have gotten the full thing, well I'm going to stop before the waterfalls start again, I am thankful to all all and that I am still alive. signed really LOST!!!

I am so sorry you are not feeling good. It is gonna be alright just wait and see. I have heard of them doing this surgery in two parts. Didnt your doctor give you any instructions on what to eat and how much to drink? You should have something to help you out there. I am sure you will do just fine. You are just having the post surgery blues that most of us went through. Hang in there you are on you way to a new life. We are here for you.

Hang on its gonna get better. I've heard about the surgery being done in 2 parts too. Thank God you had a surgeon who's concerned about your overall health. Rest up a bit, get all your meds in, and call your dr/nut for instructions for where you are now.
Take care and keep us posted

Awww honey, of course you still have things in common with us!! We're all in this boat together! It doesn't matter which type of surgery you've had, how many surgeries it takes, or even if you're just losing weight the old fashioned way.... we ALL struggle and are here to support each other! As for your comment about "being too big to do the surgery at one time", I wouldn't stress over that. That life is behind you now. Besides, I don't like hearing you say, "if I wasn't so big..." we were ALL big. I was bigger than you. That's the whole point of this process! Right?
Just hang in there. Depression following surgery is VERY NORMAL. It will pass. Just continue to drink and take care of yourself. We're all behind you every step of the way.

| oh gosh I am so sorry that you are going through such a difficult time right now, but like said- we are here for you!!! Please make sure you keep us posted along your journey and stick around and share with us. Every single one of us is unique in our own experiences, with weight loss- some with surgery and some with no surgery, we are all still united in the fact that we recognized our health was at risk and we needed to make a change. It shouldn't matter "how" you get to your healthier goals, surgery or not, it should only matter that you do whatever way works for you and know you have a great support group on here. I do hope your doctor will give you more instructions on what to eat and etc..... Always always ASK QUESTIONS when you are with your doctor they are supposed to be there for you during and after surgery. Best wishes and hang in there things will surely get better.....

Hi Lost,
I had my RNY on 1/28/10. I too came home in pain, dazed and confused. I also had a hernia repair during the surgery (did not see that one coming).
I was so scared for the first week at home and thought I had screwed up royally. Guess what, I started the program seriously (protien, H20, and vitamins, etc) and suddenly turned the corner at 10 days and the last 4 have been awesome. Still need a pain pill to sleep, but otherwise doing very well. Please hang in there and know that it will get better.

There will always be room for you on the bench. Keep yur chin up. things will get easier as time passes. Just be sure to keep in contact with your doctor, remember no question is stupid or not worth asking. That is what they are there for. Right now it is crucial you understand what he (or she) wants you to do. We are here for you too and don't be hard on yourself, everyone has had similar feelings.
take care Thor
