Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | 2 and 3 year walls These are my names for these 2 phenomena that seem to happen to so many of us. Since our major window of opportunity starts coming to an end 18-24 months, somewhere in there, we get "used" to the idea of losing, no matter what. With a little cheat here, a little cheat there, we kept losing, even slowly. So, we really didn't NEED to avoid milk & sugar, or take all that protein, did we? And grazing is nothing but small meals closer together, right? So, even when we start out doing The Right Things, round about 2 years, we think we are too cool for all that. Some have even been told to ACT as close to normal as possible. Unfortunately, we are not normal. Never were, never will be. At about 2 years, the complacency catches up. That "just one" cookie a day starts to stick to the hips, like it did in the old days. Stopped reading sugar g on labels? So, getting lazy about things like applesauce or fruit juices has moved the sugar tolerance higher & higher. And now, it's time to pay the piper. The ride ends and the pay off begins. Regain. We're scared, we're indignant, we can't believe it! Surely the surgery is broken, because I've not done anything really WRONG, and besides, I was losing weight the whole time. But no, we were still on the slide THEN, this is now. By now the nutritional problems are starting to kick in, and all those vitamins and protein drinks we didn't take are showing up in lab work. The lack thereof is showing up in cravings. And the total result is the 2 year wall. The 3 year wall is a little different. If the 2 year wall is about attitude, the 3 year wall is about the body trying to normalize. As the pouch stretches, and the common channel tries to take the place of the ENTIRE intestine, more absorption of calories is possible, though not much more in nutrients. The less nutrition we had on the way to this point, the More severe will be the body's attempt to compensate for it. We might have had reasonably good behavior to this point, maybe even surviving the 2 year wall. This one also sneaks up and is especially cruel to those who THOUGHT they were doing all the right things. Scares the daylights out of us who worked so hard to get to goal. _____________________ thought i would share this !!! and now i know i have to continue to stay on track to avoid this two year wall. IF i watch my carbs and protein im sure to suceed i fell hard thru the holidays and know what i have to do.

| Whipper Snapper | Hey Lisa, That scares the hell out of me to know that at some point I'll be dealing with these issues. It definately helps to know what's ahead of me, and having the people here for support. I plan on taking whatever support is offered. I know that food will always be a battle for me, but hopefully I will have enough knowledge to be able to fight it. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | YEAH its not easy and becomes all about healthy choices. I just saw a mini new program that just talked about carneige wilsons gastric byass journey. SHE is out a few more years then me and says its an everyday struggle. I fully related to her and were she is now. OF course she had some other issues along the way that i dont have alcohol and getting pregnant. BUT its all about a lifetime of healthy choices if we dont want to go back were we were. glad you enjoyed the article i just had to share it here.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hello... My feelings about this.. We will be dealing with these issues for the rest of our lives. Food is not so much our enemy as our life issues are. What happens as time goes by is the initial joy and excitement of all that loss fades and what is left are all the same issues that were there before surgery. If we have not gone to therapy, if we have not tried to fix our personal issues, if we are still in the same rutt we were in before we started out journey , then that is where the wall is. Good food and bad food are always going to be there. Our issues need to be dealt with so we dont need to run to the food for comfort. I know this is not easy, not saying that at all. But you cant run from your problems that make you eat. They need to be dealt with head on. Eveyrone here is doing so well. You make your destony at this stage. YOu build up your wall or knock it down. Thats how i feel about all this.... What do i know lol.... LittleLisaMarie ![]() |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | DONT know its all about HEALTHY choices. NOT to pick the doughnut but to reach for the healthy snack... fruit, a protein..... SO for me i have to learn to keep on makeing those right choices not just during my rapid weight loss stages ...just got battle this everytime im faced with an option that i make the right choice. soooooo hard. even carnie wilson has been struggling saw a little update on her today. SHE unfortunately post op got a little to much into the alchol, then gained from pregnancy. BUT hired a personal trainier and got that 40 lbs off...and she seems to know its going to be that daily battle one day at a time , one meal at a time makeing those right choices.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Of course making right choices is important and learning to do so is as well however if you dont deal with issues causing you to eat when your not supposed to it dont matter...Still have to deal with the issues that got us big to begin with in order to make good choices....total package..
