Default Dizzy spells

I've been having these dizzy spells when I stand up for 2 days, they don't last long, perhaps 20-30 seconds, but at times they are pretty intense . Anyone else experienced this?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I experience them all the time. I use to get them as a teenager also and always chalked it up to low blood pressure. But I go back to my surgeons on the 31st and am going to ask him about them cause they are all the time now. Let me know if you find anything out about them! I will let you know what he says!

Tammy, what about anemia or your blood pressure.
Also, is the dizziness just you feeling unstable, or does the ceiling go around when you are lying down?
If it's the former, anemia or too low (or too high) blood pressure could be the cause, if it's the latter, it's probably unrelated to WLS, have it checked by a neruologist, and sometimes, it comes from ear trouble.

Have you checked your blood pressure after going back on the BP meds? If not, check out, it may be that even though you need the meds, with your weightloss so far, the amount you need may be less than what you originally were prescribed. If your blood pressure is lower than what it was pre op on the same dosage, then call your dr and ask how much you should take now that your BP is coming down.

Smile Oooooh!

Boy!
I get ever now and again!!
I've been thinking it was low vit B12...someone told me that when theirs was low they had the spells. I need to go and get labwork done...but I'm gonna take Shelley's advise and try to get my PCP (which I still need to find) to see if he will order it for me so my ins. will cover it.

As of now everything to do with my WLS is out of pocket....and it's sooooo expensive! whew!!!

COuld be any of the above or simlply dehydration.. are you drinking enough water throughout the the day? Also are you eating enough throughout the day...spreading out your meals?

Best way to figure it out is to see y our doc and have labs done.

Good luck and hope you feel better.

what you are describing sounds like orthostatic hypotension...

What is Orthostatic Hypotension?
Orthostatic hypotension is a sudden fall in blood pressure that occurs when a person assumes a standing position. It may be caused by hypovolemia (a decreased amount of blood in the body), resulting from the excessive use of diuretics, vasodilators, or other types of drugs, dehydration, or prolonged bed rest. The disorder may be associated with Addison's disease, atherosclerosis (build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries), diabetes, and certain neurological disorders including Shy-Drager syndrome and other dysautonomias. Symptoms, which generally occur after sudden standing, include dizziness, lightheadedness, blurred vision, and syncope (temporary loss of consciousness}

Orthostatic hypotension (also known as postural hypotension and, colloquially, as head rush) is a sudden fall in blood pressure, typically greater than 20/10 mm Hg, that occurs when a person assumes a standing position.

Not saying it is...Just wanted to give a little info..

LittleLisaMarie

Again a doctor would have to test and see....Labs would better help find out the cause..Good luck...

Question So.....LM?

It doesn't have to be a disorder or problem...but just something that "happens" ever so often??

I don't get dizzy all the time....
Just ever so often...
