Default Aching Bones

Does anyone else have achey bones? Some nights I wake up from one or both hips hurting. I spoke with a guy I know who is 3 years out from WLS. He said that after the first 1.5 years and loosing over 100 lbs. messed up his back for a while.
Has anyone heard of changing the center of gravity after loosing lots of weight? I also heard that it can effect our hips the way we stand.
Just wondering. Sometimes I think it's just plain arthritis.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Is your calcium level okay?
Oh, yes, your posture balance will change with weightloss.
You also probably have weak muscles in some areas.
Try tucking a rolled up towel, made a couple of inches thick under the small of your back or your side at the waist when sleeping. This might help some.

YOu should def try what doc said but maybe schedule an apt with your primary care doc.. May need a bone density scan. I know for me the damage was done when i was heavy, i suffer from some degenerative disc disease. Remeber when heavy our bones did alot of rubbing and did extra work for us. Could be arthritis as well. Best bet to have some tests done. Could be your calcuium absolutly due to our malabsorption

Good luck and hope you get some relief.

Kat, funny you should bring this up, but I have noticed that when sleeping the side that I am lying on begins to hurt at the hip. Just the side that I am on, though. I just attributed it to loss of some extra padding! Mine goes away when I change positions.

Thanks everyone. I'm sure it's not from exercise. I doubt if it's from a lack of calcium since I have only missed my daily dose once since my WLS. I will ask my Doc though when I see him next month.

IN some cases even patients that take their calcium faithfully
can run into further deficiency then another person. SO this
area needs to be watched.
I do have an ONLINE WLS friend whom had surgery when I did
june 2005 and is having major calcium issues and its a very serious
situation was takeing her calicum...

Keeping her name anonomous for privacy reasons this was her post:

Usually just lurk but I have a problem. I had a Dexas Scan last year and it was bad had one yesterday and it was way worse. I was on Forteo but could not afford the cost, my insurance would not pay so went on Boniva, been on it for a year and it is not working on me. So now back to Forteo and 650.00 a month. The question is if I eat the High Calcium food - Cheese, Milk, Beans am I going to gain weight? I eat cheese some but not the milk and beans. Guess just cut out some meat? How do I balance this. I ask Dr Warnock and he said he has faith I will figure it out. Maybe I am just stressed over this and not thinking right at the moment. Any suggestions? Please I do the Acheiv One protein but not a whole lot of calcium in it. The body only absorbs 500 mg at a time or so I am told. What would you do???? My bones are so bad I could end up in a wheel chair in a year if they keep deteriorating at the rate they are. Please any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

DONT mean to scare anyone.....but even takeing our calcium there can be matters and thats why its always important to take, get calcium in our diets and have your surgeon CHECK YOUR BLOOD WORK!!!!!!!!

its not to scare you...I am sure she was calicum deficient before the surgery...and why she is going thru that now......
but even takeing our supplements who knows.
WHICH calcium do u take?? honestly do to the debate i take both...
citrate and carbonate.......

but that is a rare case of what that person is going thru. but it can happen!!!!!
