Question Any suggestions for dealing with back pain?

One problem I am still having is mid back pain. It's muscle pain that I've had for years, but it was always relieved by Motrin. Of course, on days that I worked I would take 600mg twice a day!!

I've had some problems with it since surgery...after exercise, and what not...but upon returning to work yesterday, it was almost unbearable! It helps when I can sit down and rest a few minutes, but that doesn't happen often ( I'm an ER nurse).

Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Tylenol doesn't phase it. Are there any other meds we can take that are safe on the pouch, but doesn't make us drowsy?

DocSanae, maybe you can help me on this one.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I don't know of anything that will help, but could someone please tell me how to navigate on this site. I cannot find most current posting. I keep getting 2006 stuff and cannot find how to initiate a thread or anything. I am not stupid but I am baffled.

Grandiose, just click on "New Posts" in the navigation bar up above. That will bring up the list of the latest posts since your last visit. "Today's Posts" will bring up threads with new posts within the past 24 hours.
There is also a How to Navigate This Board thread in Coffee Talk. It's the very first thread, sticky, in the index for Coffee Talk.

Tammy, motrin is basically a no-no for post ops, which you probably know.
I think you need to tackle your back pain from its roots...kinda pun, here, I guess.
Your pain probably comes from back trouble caused by years of carrying the heavy load. I would suggest that you see an orthopedic surgeon, and have him evaluate you, and consider a new line of treatment, rather than just depend on pain meds. Since your weight is coming off rapidly, the whole picture there can change with the weigtloss. Also, be very sure that your calcium level is good, since you could lose a lot of calcium during the losing phase, which won't help your bones any.
If you have a back supporter or corsette, then that should help, too, but it may not fit you now, since you have lost considerable lbs.

SORRY you have such bad BACK pain!

HOPE it eases as you loose. ALL the best i know for me not takeing mortin/aleve/advil type products were hard for monthly visitor cramping.
BUT i manage. I am thankful that tylenol has 8 hour and PM products that i use when needed. AND for those early days post op they have
meltaways. SORRY there not helping you with this pain, and back pain
