Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Body temperature is the result of your body generating and radiating heat. The body is adept at keeping its temperature within a narrow range even though ambient air conditions vary. A normal body temperature is 98.6°F. It is common during the period of rapid weight loss for bariatric patients to feel cold or chilled, even when their temperature reads normal. People who experience the massive weight loss associated with weight loss surgery experience feeling cold for two reasons: loss of insulation and less energy generation. Fat is a highly efficient insulator. Consider animals native to cold climates: for example sea lions and polar bears. They are loaded with insulation and thrive in cold climates. When gastric bypass patients follow the rules: eating protein and exercising, the weight lost can only come from fat or stored energy. In effect you are losing your insulation. Less insulation increases the likelihood that you will feel cold. I know for me i experience this all the time im always cold and it is so opposite. THIS past summer i never wanted the central air on and it was over 90 in the house a few times. BOY did my family hate me then! HOW are you fareing in the winter months????

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I have a fan on my desk at work. before surgery I would nave that fan on from the time I came in until I left. Now, only once and that was because the heat was broken in the office and wouldn't shut off. I find that I get chilled more often. Like today I am wearing a cord. skirt and a mock turtleneck sweater then put a coat on top of that! before, you would rarely see me with a coat on let alone a turtleneck at the office! I still keep the house fairly cool. I just wear warmer pj's

| I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO COLD IN ALL MY LIFE. HONEST I never before, had to go to bed in clothes. I go to bed now, in sweat pants, sweat shirt, and socks, which I absolutely hate wearing socks to bed. I am not talking chilled. I am talking MAJOR FREEZING. Lately, I don't even want to go for my walks because I am soooooo cold. I have skipped a few days to be totally honest because of it, and I hate doing that. I live in WI, which you know, so you know living here, it gets pretty nasty. lol I wish there would be a cure for this. lol I would never want my insulation back, lol, but all those clothes to bed with 4 blankets on the bed, is just too much. I have to live with it, but just can't wait for at least spring to get here. I thought, when I lost the weight, I could lose the sweat pants forever. NOT THE CASE AT ALL. If I were to wear jeans in the house, I would surely turn into a popsicle. Our house is set to 78, and still, I am FREEZING. A NASTY SIDE EFFECT OF THE SURGERY, LOL, BUT ONE I WILL FOR SURE LEARN TO LIVE WITH. I shouldn't say that. The surgery was a miracle in disguise for me. I LOVE THE NEW ME, AND WILL PUT UP WITH IT. PRAY FOR HOT WEATHER SOON LISA. ![]() |

| Funny, I've "burnt up" for so long that I welcome the chill. I had forgotten what it was like to wear a coat! Now my husband and I fight over blankets at night! For me, this is a blessing as well. Of course, this is early in my journey. Ask me again in about 35#!

| I was like that early out to. lol I will be sure to ask you when you lose more of your insulation. lol The wife has a little insulation, so she just knows now, to drape yet another blanket over me when I get into bed. She laughs. She has a normal amount of covers on, and I have this BIG OL HEAP OF THEM ON MY SIDE. I thought that heap called mike would be gone after I lost the weight, lol, it just has turned into blankets now. I am jealous of you right now Tammy. lol |

5' 6" Height: | Oh ya... I bundle up like an Eskimo. I go to work around 5:3A. I usually wear a turtle neck, a polar fleece hooded shirt, my chef coat and then my parka with a wool scarf and sometimes a hat. This is WI and there is a reason why people traded for fur. Right Mike??? I also have 3 warm quilts and a comforter on my bed. One night I got up during the night to put on a sweatshirt, sweatpants and socks I was so cold. It isn't as bad as it was, though. |

| You surely told NO lie there KAT! This is WI after all. I swear, at this point, it is the coldest darn place on earth. LOL I sure hear ya when you talk about the attire we go to bed in. It is nightly for me. Would have never caught me dead in clothes to be before. Well, not naked for the record, but darn close shall I say. I just pray, KAT, for a really early spring. I am curious how I am going to fair this summer. If even summer is going to feel chilly. Yes, it is that bad for me to wonder about it. I am curious KAT. Where exactly are you from? Are you like Green Bay area, or what? lol JUST CURIOUS.mike |
