Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Many gastric bypass patients report frequent spells of dizziness. In general they are using the word dizzy to describe everything from feeling faint or lightheaded to feeling weak or unsteady. Research indicates a state of chemical imbalance can lead to temporary bouts of dizziness. When a bariatric patient feels dizzy it could very well be related to the restricted diet. Most commonly going too long between meals or not drinking enough water causes bariatric patients to become dizzy or have a mild electrolyte imbalance. Many patients self-treat dizziness by drinking water or little sips of a sports drink such as Gatorade

| Super Moderator | The first is low blood sugar--hypoglycemia-- and the second is dehydration. It's expressed so it's easier to understand, rather than the medico-techincal terms. Incidentally, hypoglycemia simply means low blood sugar, and not the symptoms that it causes, just as hyperglycemia simply means high blood sugar, and not the symptom it causes.

| Thanks! I did get some gatorade, and strangely enough, I can drink cranberry juice real well. I know it has a lot of calories, but right now I'm just glad I found something that I can drink more of! Still having those spells occassionally, but not as often, and not as intense. I appreciate all the useful info on this board!

| I have found myself having them to. Not as frequent as they used to be though. Thinkin back, I got them alot of times when I hadn't drank alot. BUSY BUSY BUSY AT WORK. Not only that, now that I can eat a little more, I am finding I don't have them as much either. I am assuming, it might have been a combo of them both. Thanks for sharing that Lisa. mike |
