Sometimes, what worked yesterday doesn't work today.
Also, did you chew chew chew chew and then chew some more before swallowing?
When you think it should be fine because it was before, you may uncosnciously be less careful about chewing.
It is all a learning curve.

Chewing is soooo key... my only problems have been with my Calcium supplements and believe it or not, carrots! Calcium is better now that I don't drink 10 minutes before or after, as for the carrots, I chew them much better!

Oh boy, I have had this too, one day chicken/beef is okay, and the next I'm heaving like a fountain. Now, I have found that the moister my meat is the easier it goes down. So now I do not over cook chicken or beef and it seems better, no up chucking. Was that meatloaf dry at all? And as the other said, chew chew chew!

That has happened to me when I was in a hurry. So rushing it and not chewing well enough is usually the culprit for me.

My list of what I don't want to eat has more than quadrupled since wls.
Not a problem because in reality I don't really care much for food any more. I eat 3 times a day, sometime enjoy a sweet treat, seldom too much of anything.
I had several small vomit sessions in the beginning and I agree not pleasant but a small price to pay for how it all turned out a year later.
Personally I never would have been into something as rich as venison 1 1/2 months after surgery. Heck I was just getting into eggs around then, some soups and seldom anything too rich or spicy.
You can reject what you eat for a number of reasons. Doc brought up the chewing one. Large pieces of food could cause rejection. If you had reached your physical capacity (too much for your pouch) you may reject the food. If it is too rich, too sweet, too spicy, too bland or just not the right time you could find your system wanting to reject the food.
This is your body helping you deal with a decision to make a change in your food consumption when you are not mature enough to make the right decision yourself. Thank goodness, it helped my immaturity at meals many times. At times I had to leave my work and go home (only once or twice).
You know what is funny? A year from now these few periods of what I will call an inconvenience will be pretty much nothing more than a memory of an event so don't fret about it. Be thankful that your body and more in particular your new pouch are doing their job.
Best of luck.

protien is important but your early in the game , most cant do all thier protien right off ....I still cant do mine , not a good thing after 3 months but i cant no matter how hard i try... i did get my bloodwork back today and i am still in the ok range om protien...so do your best and go back to soft foods to let your pouch heal...i would go for days unable to eat anything but yogurt , baby food , and protien drinks...meat is very hard to deal with for sure....so sorry this is flaring up on you , you been doing great , hope its just a bump in the road...keep us updated , hugs , Annie
