Default Got more test results from Monday

Well it looks like my test for H Pyloria (bacteria in the G tract) was not good. So I go to Dr. tomorrow to get a couple of weeks Rx. I take them for 2 weeks then wait 4 more weeks and go have some kind of breath test done to see if I am clear. Also have to get my sugar A1C down for 8.8 to 6.5. If I can achieve all of this in the 6 weeks , surgery will be within a couple of weeks after that. Wish me luck Guys. Got to do what I have got to do. Right? Mattie

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Might I suggest the Atkins diet. Last time I had my A1C done it was 5.5 all thanks to Atkins. I had not been watching my diet lately and my glucose levels were up. I had a new A1C done but don't know the results yet but I have gone back to Atkins to get my blood glucose down again before surgery. The diabetic diet allows too many carbs for me and I cannot keep my eating under control. It allows 150 grams per day, on Atkins I generally keep to 20 to 30 per day.

HIGH FIVE Jeanne!

I hate to admit that i have troubles with diets
with to many carbs and keeping my CARBS in the atkins
range of induction helps me most and controls cravings

WHEN i eat more my eating is out of control!
i fully relate to you!!!!
hugs
i used the atkins for my preop weight loss that my surgeon requires
of his patients and I used my DANDR rules for my post op eating too.
I feel thats why i did loose so rapidly!

Wishing you the best!!
H.Pylori causes ulcers, so you need to get rid of it before your surgery.
As for bringing your A1C down, bringing it down more than 2 points in 6 weeks may not be easy. If your dr suggests insulin, I'd advice you to go for it, since once you lose your weight, you will be able to come off it, so it will be only for a while.
ADA also suggest that you bring down your fasting blood glucose level to below 126mg/dl (7mmol) and casual glucose level below 200mg/dl (11.1mmol) to reduce the danger of complications with surgery.
It may be frustrating, but getting yourself in the best physical condition for surgery will reduce the chance of your having complications drastically.
(((((((HUGS)))))) May you be able to work out the kinks speedily.

DOCSANAE may i chime in a question....
being u mentioned the H. Pylori causes ulcers
so my question is ...
is that always tested on people pre op??? or did it have
to be specifically requested? ( i raise the thought being
i had the ulcer and really didnt break any rules that
put me at risk to develop?) wondering does standard blood
work ups check for it or no?
thanks

Default Hey Mattie!

Sorry I didn't get to reply to your post yesturday. My darn puter was on the blink. JUST MY LUCK I do believe that it can be achieved by you Mattie. You, like all of us here, are go getters. Your date will be coming soon after, I am sure. HANG IN THERE. All the pre tests are fun aren't they? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! At the end, right before surgery, I felt like an animal in a laboratory as many times as I was poked and prodded with needles, fingers, electrode monitors hooked to my head for my sleep study for apnea, what ever they could get into their hands. LOL LOL LOL All well worth it in the end though. WOULD I DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN? YOU BETCHA BABY! The outcome was well worth all that a person goes through physically, and mentally before surgery. GLAD TO HEAR FROM YA, AGAIN, MATTIE. Have a great day.
