| My brain is broke
As of last Friday at my 2 month mark I am down 67LBS. I went out and got some new shirts a size 2xl, down from a 4xl. I should feel great about this but I don't. I still feel like a fat guy. I don't see the skinnier guy when I look in the mirror. In fact over the weekend I saw what I looked like on a video camera and all I could think about was how huge I looked. It really sucks. I see pictures of people on here that lost 60LBS and they look like a different person. How do you get your brain around the idea that I do look better?

friends always help. I feel the same way too. I know there is a differance but I just dont see it especially in pictures. However when I see friends/ family they notice. I even had the lady at Dunkin Donuts say to me today (dont worry not for me) "Are you getting skinny on me??" I just smiled and said YES. Be patient, I know you will see it too.. good luck

Each person, it takes time to see it! Take some pictures TODAY of yourself, front, back, side...that's what I did along the way each month and it made a big difference for me to be able to SEE what was changing.
It IS really hard that one day that comes when we finally SEE ourselves and we're still big, but the surgery IS working and in another 2 mos there will be another chunk gone!
For some it just takes more time before you can really see it..the lighweights will see a huge change with 60 lbs lost when all they need is just over 100 to reach their goals, just keep that in mind.
You are doing good..don't let it get ya down. Keep on track man!

Just give it some time. Even though the weight loss is fast, it still takes time and you are only two months out. I know it's hard to be patient and you want to see the results. now. You will. Trust me
You've done a great job loosing 67 pounds in 2 months. Keep up the great work!

Hey Roland hows it going friend. I still feel that way too. I have a couple of daily reminders to let me know how far I have come.
1-I still wear the belt I was using when my waist was a snug 48 inches. I now tuck the tip of it in near the small of my back, a comfortable 36 inch waist now.
2-I work in a bakery and the flour sacks are 50 lbs each, when I am moving those around I tell myself, "Self, Dang you have lost two of these suckers, thats pretty good!"
Looking in the mirror doesn't do anything for me, neither does looking at current pictures. But seeing before and after pictures does bring a smile to my face
How is work going for ya? Are you finding your energy level amping up yet? For me it was right around the two month mark.
Be talking to ya
Thor

This is why it's more a mental trip than a physical one. You're feeling just the same as everyone else, actually, and you're the last to see the changes.
The next time you go out on town, ask your family to point out someone who's the same size as you. You'll be really surprised.
Here's a recent thread on the same subject. http://www.renewedreflections.com/fo...-real-you.html |

It is very, very hard to see yourself as you truely are. I still can't see it when I look in a mirror, but I can tell now when I look at pictures. For the longest time I couldn't pick out the right size clothes, I kept going for sizes twice as large as I needed. Congrast on losing os much already.

How am I doing? Lets see where to start? I feel pretty good. Work is going good. I am finding that I have to do things different then I used to. I don't have the weight behind me to pull and push things around like I used to. Eating is an issue. Food just doesn't taste good. I don't want to eat. I have to make myself eat. Going out to eat has been one of the hardest things I have had to do. To start with I never know what to order. I am getting real sick of chicken strips. Next I feel bad that we are spending all of this money on food and I am eating less then half of it. Finally I find that I am having to explain to the waitress why I am not finishing my food. I have had several waitress's that get offended thinking that I don't like the food. On top of all of that I feel really fat. For years I have told myself that I was just a big guy. Now that I am getting skinny I just feel fatter. Also my pregnant wife has said that if I weigh less then she does when the baby is born she is going to kill me. (Add to that thought, My grandparents cane to visit the other day and made the comment that I looked really good and that I must be giving the weight I am losing to my wife. She loves my grandpa but that made her a little upset.) But other then all of that I feel great. The surgery is working. 30 more pounds and I am under 300. Have not seen that since JR high.

Roland, I struggled with some of the same feelings. Having been overweight since I was a teenager, I didn't even recognize myself in the mirror. People would make comments about me being thin and I literally got confused from time to time not understanding who they were talking about! I took about a month off of exercising during this time, it slowed my weight loss and gave my brain time to catch up with what I was seeing in the mirror. It was really a surreal time and I felt like I SHOULD be happy but my brain was so confused I couldn't be! Once I felt like my brain was catching up to the mirror I started my regular workout routines again and have been going strong since. I lost at a very rapid pace (IMHO) I am down 169lbs in exactly 9 months just shy of 20lbs a month on average although the first 5 months I was already down 130lbs! It was really a lot for my body and mind to adjust to. Everything you are saying sounds so real to me... it does get better... I don't know if it is a girl thing, but I recommend SHOPPING.. lots of shopping... trying on new sizes, new styles figuring out what the new me was going to look like.... I didn't spend tons of $, I'm not dumb... Ross, Marshall's, thrift stores etc...
