Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well, like most people I jumped my diet advancement by one day. I was suppose to start my semi solids phase tomorrow but I started it today instead. So this morning I get up and ate 1/2 cup of warmed refried beans which was on my list of things I am allowed to eat. I made a half a cup (Granted it was not a FULL 1/2 cup)....thinking I would not be able to eat the whole thing but I was able to. Isn't that ALOT? I thought my pouch was suppose to be the size of a walnut? I could of eaten more, too....I stopped before I felt full. I am dissappointed and confused.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | EVERY FOOD type and texture will respond differently when you eat varying the serving size slighly. I personally never measured and just ate from a very small baby food bowl. I never would feel full i would just stop...knwoing to much i would vomit. YOUR still healing so sometimes you cant feel that full just yet. JUST dont over do and keep the serving size to what your surgeon suggests during the healing (so early out ) of the staple line. YOU do not want to rupture that. THINGS will come together in time and you feel more. IT all dependso n the food you eat. A protein will fill you faster and hold you fuller longer when you get to the stage food you an have such. YOUR doing fine and im sure what you ate was far smaller porition for a meal then you ever ate. SOME meals a protion is bigger then another no rhyme or reason. I am thinking as u eat the pureed/semi solids thru the day each meal might be smaller I mean for me a side of refried beans was just a side dish along with 3 tacos (or more) so that was a very small meal!!! JUST compare to the old eating. I am thinking your fine! JUSt relax and enjoy. hugs

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hey........first off take a deep breath, your doing GREAT. As you know the body is healing , think of the anatomy and the sutures. Everyone has there own tolerance. To much food in it could cause issues with the sutures. What you had seems fine to me. And different foods and consistancy will feel different. I also used a baby bowl and baby spoon and measured everything in the begining. You have to think is it that your not full or is it our minds once again telling us we need more food when we look at the size we are eating? You are doing well and all this worrying is normal in the begining, i did it alot as well. As long as you measure and chew and follow your plan you will be ok. So exciting though isnt it??? Keep up the good work. LittleLisaMarie ![]() |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thank you, both, very much for your responses....I do feel alot better!!!! I will say this......yesterday for breakfast I had just straight refried beans and then for supper I had a bocca burger (these were made from black beans) and I was only able to eat 1/2 of one of those before I actually felt full!! Thank you again for your encouragement and your help....it is great appreciated....more than I can tell you Hugs, Valerie***

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I'm like Lisa, I have days where I really never feel full but then there are days like last week where I had returns three days in a row and hadn't had much to eat at all. It really does depend on the type of food and the time of week/month. You're doing great! |

| Valerie, I had some of the same thoughts you are having...worried because I thought I had eaten too much..."this can't be right." "Oh no, I'm going to gain my weight back" "how could I eat that much?" I agree with Lisa, different foods are tolerated differently. Right now I can eat almost a whole 6 oz cup of yogurt, but with any kind of meat I feel full after only a few bites. It's a continuous experiment. You will learn your limits, but it takes awhile. I'm 10 weeks out and I'm learning every day. Be patient. You are doing great!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I think what your feeling is normal.. there are days I think I could never stop eating and days where two or three bites is enough to fill me up. It has a lot to do with the texture of food. First step is to relax.. and think to yourself prior to surgery how much of those beans would you have been able to eat? |
