I got the letter in the mail today! I have my second appt with the dietician on Thursday. I needed a second A1C because my last was 7.2 and I hadn't been following a diet then. I know it will be down this time, I have lost 7 lbs since following a diet. So I trekked out in the blizzard (it was only about 8 blocks) and got a new blood test. They will schedule the last appts I need,(with the pharmacist and physical therapist) and I am pretty sure I will get my surgery date! I am flying so high right now, it was hard to sit long enough to post a message! I danced around the kitchen with the dog for about 10 minutes! Woo Hoo! I'm almost there!

Becka, an A1C is a test that measures your blood sugar for the past three months. My last one was 7.2 and they won't do the surgery until it is below 7.0. If you are not diabetic you won't have a problem with it. I am type II diabetic. That is one of the things I can't wait to get rid of with weight loss. My surgeon says I could possibly get off some of my meds while still in the hospital. I am really excited about that! And thanks everyone for good thoughts. I am flying so high right now!

Jeane I have type 2 diabetes also, my 1st A1C was 8.0 and then she put me on meds and now its 5.6. I am hoping your new numbers are awesome...Also we may be surgery Buds. I cant wait to find out when you get a date and I get one too

Congratulations on the approval. Keep us posted on your date and stuff, ((((((HUGS))))))) A1C is abbreviaton of HbA1C--glycosylated hemoglobin. Hemoglobin, which is what makes the red blood cells red, easily ties up with glucose--glycosylation. So, the higher your blood sugar level is, the higher the percentage of glycosylated hemoglobin.
