| Having an off day... just wanting to vent.
Ok, so let me start out by saying that I'm VERY pleased with my progress. I'm FINALLY beginning to understand the relation to my mirrored image and the image everyone else sees. But these past couple of days, the weight loss has caused me a few issues. I just need an opportunity to vent a little this morning...bear with me, folks.
My grandmother has alzheimer's. She has been steadily getting worse, having fewer moments of clarity... but she's seen me on my weight loss journey so there was no issue with recognition. Earlier this week, she had a massive stroke. I went to the hospital to see her and the stroke has only aggravated her already failing clarity. When I got to the hospital, she was asking for me. Only, she can't SEE me. She looks at my new body and says, "You're not Stephanie. She doesn't look like you." So, all day... she was asking for me. All day, we tried to explain. Not once could she reconcile the image of me in her mind with the one in her room. So "Stephanie" as she knew her... is gone. Instead, she thinks I'm her daughter who passed away 5 years ago. And if that comforts her, then so be it. I wouldn't wish those 184 pounds back for ANYTHING...but for a brief moment at that hospital, I would've liked to borrow them.
Last night, I went back to see her again. I left the hospital after dark. When I was leaving, there was a man who was coming in the door. He turned around backward to watch me walk. At first, it was funny. A gentle reminder of my new body. Then all of a sudden, it wasn't so funny anymore. He turned and followed me out the door and into the dark parking lot. I was in full blown panic because I was completely alone and had a LONG walk to my van. Finally, I saw a man in scrubs getting into his car and rushed over to where he was and asked him to walk me to my van. He looked at me like I was some crazy lady (lol..which isn't far from the truth) but then I motioned to the man walking behind me. So, he agreed and walked me the rest of the way. The scary guy went back toward the hospital. Whew....
So... although I love the new me... it's caused a couple of problems for me this week. I NEVER in a million years thought I'd miss my fat body for even a split second. And although I'd never go back... I'm surprised at myself for my temporary moment of weakness over the new rockin hot body. LOL
If you made it to the end of this nonsense.... bless you. LOL

That's a very good rant... and a sort of a convoluted WOW.
On the other hand, I am sorry to hear of your grandmother. The only thing you can do with Alzheimers at the stage she is, is go along with what she thinks. At least, that will comfort her.

How very sad about your grandma, I'm sorry she is failing and looking for her (fat)Stephanie. It is so hard to see our loved ones in a week condition. I hope at some point she is able to recognize you.
How scary that guy following you... Girl you have to start covering up that new sexy body...LOL. Glad there was someone in the garage that agreed to walk you to the van. Might want to give a call to hospital security so they can watch out for him. I would think it is on video, he sounds like some kind of perv....
I hope the rest of your day/weekend is unenventful.

Good thinking on asking someone to walk you to your car.
I am sorry about your grandmother, mine is in assisted living with hospice support. She has dementia and hasn't known me for years. The last couple of times I visited I had cut my hair so now it is much shorter and darker and she seems to comprehend that she knows me now, but the funny thing is after years of not calling my mom by name, she did twice --before I cut my hair but not since.
It is so hard to see our loved ones deteriorate mentally.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, your grandma and your family during this time.

Hay lady sad to hear you had a crappy scary day.
Just remember what I told you about your Nana Steph, you've done all you can for her and she is in the best hands. As for the creep following you in the car park, you just take care in future. Real care OK

I promise to be careful. I usually try to park in a bright area, but lastnight, I wasn't able to find a better parking spot. Quote:

The problem is, my hands are so fragile, that if it actually came time to use them, I'd probably hurt myself worse than the assailant! LOL I need to invest in a pitbull. Maybe just a bodyguard. Karlos, you available? LOL

The last time I saw my father, he had no clue who I was. My sister later told that three weeks later he asked if I had just been there. A month later, it was all over.
As for the creep ... you have all kinds of technologies available to you to even the odds, from emergency sirens to nasty sprays to semi-automatics. Whichever self-defense method you choose, train in it, then train some more. If your mind isn't tough enough to use it, no matter what you have, it will be taken from you and used against you. If you're determined to win that encounter, you can be as effective with a hat pin as a pistol, but only if you know how to use it.
Remember, when seconds count, the police can be there in minutes. We don't want to lose you after all that you've been through to get this far.

CT | I know how to use a pistol, I just don't own one. Good plan, huh? My dh used to be a self defense instructor...I guess I need to get him to give me a few pointers. I've always been such an independent person, I just assume I can take care of everything myself... I don't think about random things like a creepy stalker guy.
I'm going to look into getting some personal protection spray or a siren or something. In times like that when my dh or my brother aren't around, it'd be nice to have...especially since I have girls. I'd hate to think they'd been there with me in a situation like that.
