Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hey Betty!
This is your sister Nessa. Thanks for all your support during my loooonnnnng waiting period for a surgery date. Actually, it's going pretty quickly now, and I'm working to get my head in the game so that I can experience long term success. Hopefully my surgery date will be some time this month. I told my therapist that this isite is the greatest tool! There are very few things that I can think of that's hasn't been addressed on here by somebody. When I do come up with a new question, or just want to vent a little, these guys are right here to offer encouragement, and help me to take a good look at myself (it's not always pretty LOL!) Glad you found us.

Yeah, we're always ready with a pat on the back. Sometimes it may be lower and harder than you wanted, though, but it's always done in a spirit of love and support.

Hi, Im a newbie too . My name is Ashlie. My husband is Enlisted Miliary on his second (hopefully last time) through. Just had our first child, a son, in September. Im also a full time student. Im stressed out but Im so excited about my husband coming home at the end of july but Im even more excited about having this surgery done.. if Tricare will be a nice little insurance company and approve it.... sigh.. that would be an awesome birthday present to myself.

Ive always been heavy, never been a "normal" weight. I actually lost weight with the pregnancy cuz I couldn't keep anything down and the baby was just takin it all. And I have to say Its really motivating me to lose more. But I just can't seem to lose anymore though. No matter what I do, or how many hours I spend in the gym a week. So I finally decided that is got to be done. I just found out my last fasting lab glucose Lvl was 127 today .. and Now I have to do more testing for DM-2... my health is just declining. High cholesterol, joint pain, back pain, asthma, hypothyroidism.. gez.. what eles could go wrong.. ..... I probibly shouldn't ask that.. something might happen
But with all Ive seen on this site and others, what once was a passing thought I really want to get the RNY and start losing weight and getting healthy.

Im just starting this whole process, I saw the Surgeon yay and Im currently biting my nails waiting for the Insurance to tell me I cant OR I can have the RNY Lap Surgery. Im on the edge of my seat waiting for this answer.

Hi my name is Patti and I am married to a wonderful man and we have a chocolate lab and 2 cats. No children, tried for years but it never happened for us. I guess because of being so overweight. I love Steelers and Penn State football. We enjoy going to the cabin in the mountains and taking our dog along. I have completed all pre op testing and the surgeon has submitted to insurance. I am awaiting a surgery date and getting anxious. My husband is also having WL surgery and is about 1/2 way through the pre op process. I am positive we will succeed with the love and support of each other. Not to mention all the support and friendship we receive from this site. I've been overweight pretty much all my life. I started gaining at 9 or 10 and never stopped. I look forward to having a better, healthier life.

Patti, I had WLS 15 months ago, and my wife had it last month. It really helps to have both partners working at it together. We also could never had children. (Had no problem getting pregnant, though! That was a tough time for both of us.)

You cannot yet imagine the wows and joys you will experience as you both go on this ride together! It's the ride of a lifetime, and quite literally, the ride that gives you back your life. Enjoy it!! The best is yet to come!

Christy0283!!! I knew that there was something about you that makes you outstandingly beautiful, kind, classy, and loving...you're a g.r.i.t. (girl raised in the south)! I just noticed that you're from Bama too! Hey!! Was your surgery done here in B'ham? My surgeon's name is Dr.Ronald Clements @ UAB hospital. I'm still waiting on a surgery date, but I've finished all of my pre-op requirements.
I might as well introduce myself. My name is Vernessa and I'm 47 years young. I have 2 beautiful daughters and two equally beautiful grandchildren. Kaleb is 5 and Kiersten is 3 weeks. (whew! I thought my days of 2:30 a.m. feedings were over). I'm the youngest of 9 kids, and was raised by my grandmother. I was a chubby kid, nicknamed "D" (body shape, flat butt, big belly!). I did eventually gain hips, so that no longer applies. My mom died with type 2 diabetes complications/renal failure. I have 2 brothers and one sister who are diabetic, and I was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes. That in itself was scary enough. But after two years of talking to me, my sweet kind pcp told me with all your health problems, you're heart's gonna fail in your 50's if you don't get that weight off and keep it off. Talk about a wake-up call! I still procrastinated for a few months before considering WLS. Now the waiting makes me a little loopy, but I'm ok for right now. I'm still seeing my psych doc. I was thoroughly ticked off at 1st, but you guys on this site helped me get a better perspective, so now I'm cool with it. Thanks a lot all of you who post here and help us newbies out.

Hey, Vernessa. Yep, I'm a southern girl, too! My surgery was done in Mobile though, not Birmingham. Good luck on your journey.
