Hi, my name is Rosalind, I am 38 years old and I live in the suburbs of New Orleans, LA. I am the proud mom of 2 boys, 11 and 2. I have been divorced for 9 years, was going to get married to the father of my 2 year old and Katrina washed him to Memphis, I was not willing to relocate (I have a really good job) and he wanted a change so we ended our 3 year relationship. I am engaged to a wonderful man and will probably get married later this year but first I need to take care of me for a while! I was chubby growing up but no where near fat In high school I ballooned up to 250 lobs in 3 years, was not as active and my parents got me a car at 16 so when I graduated at 18 I was out of control! I was totally against the surgery until about Oct. of last year. I was convinced I could do it by myself one day I realized that I could loose the weight but could not keep it off. I really started to do some research and decided that this was the best thing for me. I am scheduled for my surgery in 4 lil days, I can not wait. Roz PS, I can't get my pic any smaller to post as an avatar but if you click on my profile it is there and at least you can put a face with a name.

Hi Lady it sounds like we are in the same boat. My insurance said they cover it as well. Just have to make sure I meet everything they ask. NOt sure if they will come back to ask for the 3 - or 6 month diet request. It was not ask for when I got the requirements. But then you never know these days. Please feel free to e-mail if you like.

My name is Jody. I live in the sunny southern CA desert! I am 38 years old, married for 20 years, and have 4 boys! My oldest is 18 and youngest 10. They keep me busy, but are my pride and joy. I have been overweight my entire life, and decided to stop the yo-yo diet madness and do something for myself. I am 6 months post-op and do not regret this decision at all. I have lost 89 lbs and only 15 to goal. I started at 235, was 220 day or surgery and currently weigh 146. So far, I have learned a lot these past 6 months. Most of all, to really watch what goes in the mouth...cause if not, you will be sorry later. A concept that I would have never grasped without this wonderful tool. I must admit, in the beginning it was a little depressing because you do not realize how much eating is a social event. I learn something everyday, and love reading and posting on this forum as well as others. It is very theraputic. I look forward to getting to read everyone's post. Thanks LisaMarie for starting this thread. Jody

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | and Isabella soon to be 4!! After my husband retired from the Air Force we came to Ct. in 1984. I have always been on one diet or another since I was 10 yrs. old. Always wore Chubbette sizes!! I first joined Weight Watchers in 1967--been a member of TOPS the whole time husband and I traveled around the United States and Europe. I use to work in a hair salon for 11 yrs.--as a receptionist and then managed a salon for 3 yrs. Ihave a great circle of friends--7 of us go away for 3 or 4 days every year and go to the beach, just to rejuvinate ourselves--we have a ball for ourselves!! It so nice not to answer to anyone, clean house, or cook!! We sit and enjoy a few cocktails (gonna be a long time before I can have one of those We use to put on little talent shows also--that was great!! I am so lucky to have a hubby that doesn't mind my litttle getaways--course he has his buddies too!! I never thought I would ever go the WLS route--I always said I love food to much for that surgery--but after surgery on my back, knee, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, it was time for me to see what was more important to me. I am so glad I did this on March 29, 2007. My recovery was great from the surgery, had a few minor problems with blood pressure etc, but stomach doing great. But now I do have 2 herniated discs in my neck that I have been suffering with since a week and a half ago--Mri done last Sat. -- going to see a surgeon Friday.. I also have Fibromyalgia--but with medication it has been doing great. Life is good for me, God has blessed me in so many ways, and now he has led me to this great site, where I can share and talk to great people!! Thank you all. LisaMarie, this was a good idea you had, it nice to read about everyone. Thank you! DianeB

My name is Jennifer and I am 33. I live in Las Vegas with my husband and 2 boys (2 1/2 & 10 months). We own a restaurant and needless to say food is everywhere in my life! I am currently researching WLS. I meet with my PCP 5/1 to start the 3 month diet and then back to the surgeon. I was a tiny kid. In grammer school I was chubby. Recall a family vacation when I was 10 or so, we went to a restaurant that had a huge Hippo on the wall, my step brother said "hey there's Jenni on the wall". Needless to say that was devastating. I went back to being tiny in high school, I walked everywhere! College and a car came and I was lazy. I was smoking a drinking all the time. I got up to about 250 by the time i was 23. I did WW and lost 30 and gained back 50. I did atkins for a wedding I was in and had the same results. After 2 pregnancies both with Gestational Diabetes am now heavier than I was at 9 months prego the 2nd time. Its time for me do something! So here I am. Thanks for all the info so far, I can't wait to learn more.

I CANT BELIEVE I MISSED THIS...or maybe i saw it but it was before I knew how to post...??!! LOL My name is Kenya. I am 30 years old and a single parent. I am an account service suprvisor for a credit union located in Purchase, NY. I currently live in Bridgeport CT but I was born and raised in New Rochelle, NY. I have one daughter; Kayla 4, years old. I had lap RNY on 4/19/07. to date I have lost 40 lbs. I have ALWAYS had a weight problem, and I wasnt just overweight as a child, I was always obese. WHen i was young I had very bad asthma so playing, running, recess and gym were not an option for me. I never led an actuve lifestyle and spent most of my time indoors. In my teens I began to diet. The most weight I ever lost on my own was about 70lbs in 2001. diet pills and not eating was how i did it. then I got pregnant with my daughter, I gained 107 lbsand this is where I have been ever since. I used to say I'd never have WLS. but the past year or so I have been having medical issues and I felt like I didnt have the time necessary to regain my health. By time i mean i didnt have 2 years to lose 100lbs safely. I needed it gone tomorrow. Since surgery I can honestly say my health has improved dramatically. I havent had an asthma attack since pre-op. I have been taken off of my hypertension meds, and am awaiting bloodwork as to the status of my borderline diabetic condition. I suspect there will be improvement there as well. I am VERY glad that I have found this site. I believe support is key to making this tool work for me. And ever since I set up my account I have received nothing but the greatest outpouring of support. |

Hi my name is Urretta and I am 39 years old, married for seven years, and I have 3 children ages 15, 8, and 7 years of age. I started my wl journey on July 19, 2006. I thank God everyday I made the decision to do it. My life after the surgery is great! I went from a size 24 to a size 12. This is great for me because I am 5ft ten inches and I look fabulous! Like everyone else I have been overweight all of my life. I have been on so many diets I can't begin to name them all. I am so thankful for this site because I get so much inspiration from it. Thank you LisaMarie for starting this thread. Take care!
