Question DocSanae..Q?

Good morning Doc,

I got a friend who's a newly wed. She loves Japanese food in particularly Sushi. I'm planning to get her a wedding present and was thinking of getting her Sushi plates, chopsticks,.. Can you advice me?

I'm a bit ignorant in Japanese culture.

Appreciate it

Love,
Hanadi

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Something like this?
Tachikichi-yuu
(Sorry, it's only in Japanese, and though the particular set is in white, of course we have colorful plates, with all kinds of motifs.)
A basically flat square or oblong plate with a matching small saucer for soy sauce is what is shown here.
Basically, our tableware are not matched the way Western tableware are, e.g. different size plates, cups, saucers etc in the same design. So, you can choose a set of plates, and then choose a set of small saucers (round is the norm for this, though the store site has square design) for the soy sauce. Different designs are fine so long as they are in harmony in theme or color or motif. You can show your great taste and coordination talents here.
With chopsticks, Chinese ones and Japanese ones are a little bit different. The Chinese ones are longer, and often made of ivory, but Japanese ones are just under 20cm in length and the best ones are wood ones that are laquered.

I'll put up pics of what I have over the weekend so you can get the idea.

Thanks Doc for the information.

Wow didn't know that the difference is that unnoticeable in the chopsticks !!!

Well this is what I bought for my friend I hope this is right!

well the guy who helped me said that they're plates just for 2 (the sushi set) and thought it's not enough so I bought the matching square plates and I just fall in love with the chopsticks that have green quartz at the top with little stone I think to lye the sticks on while eating?!
I also got her another long plate but couldn't take a picture of it coz it's already wrapped.

I guess the chopsticks are Japanese because they're made of wood, both the quartzatic and the ones with the set.

Now I need somebody to teach me how to hold them hehehehe because I'm going to Maki restaurant in my husbands B-Day. I don't want the rubber elastic help in my sticks. This trick is for the kids hehehe

Thanks
Hanadi

They are lovely!!!
You have wonderful taste, and if your friend doesn't like them, you have my permission to wring her neck,
Yes, we have little chopstick rests.
Hmm, I should post a pic of a hand holding the chopsticks?
I'll do it tomorrow.

yes Doc not only a picture but the way to hold it in words hehehe I need to practice before I become a joke on my DH birthday. I need to show off my intelligence and teach him how to hold the chopsticks but the most important thing is to eat with them not only hold 'm hehehehe!

I would bet him eat rice with it ehhehehe oh boy they must be hard to catch these tiny grains with the sticks! I hope he'll diet wahahahha

I love my man, he's my teddy bear :*
