Default My update

I got bloodwork done this morning. Hpylorie is negative. Urinary infection clear . BUT A1c was 7.6. .
All test are now completed , I was just waiting on this glucose thing.
I have a call into Dr. now to see if that is low enough to have surgery. I hope, I hope, I hope.
Guys please pray and wish me luck that he will give the go ahead. I have gotten it down from almost 9 but I should have been more patient and waited a couple of more weeks to get tested. Darn, Darn, Darn.

I am soooo anxious. Mattie

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I just sent you a PM. I'm hoping your surgeon will go with that. You have lowered it significantly. Mine will not perform the surgery until I'm below 7.0.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!!

  1. yeah looks like we are in the same boat. I do like the byetta. It seems to help control my appetite. My Dr. said he has had a couple of patients lose 30 #'s since he started them on it. That would be nice. I think I just got impatient and did not wait long enough since starting the byetta. Hope you do well. It's the pits for sure. Mattie

Good luck there. With the number of this surgery increasing by leaps and bounds, it seems the surgeons are getting more cautious about keeping things in line for better results. It sure is a bummer you have to wait for just this one little number to get down to where you can be safe, but in the meanwhile, I think it will help you to prepare for the changes you need to make post op.
((((((HUGS)))))) May you both be able to bring down your A1C levels soon.

Well Dr. just sent email. NO, will not do surgery until below 7. Anybody have any idea how long I should wait to be tested again. I have had 2 good months and one bad. Sooooo.... Maybe a month? I am really really behaving. Mattie

Basically, A1C levels are affected by your blood glucose level over the last 2 months or so. (The red blood cell life span is approxmately 120 days, so it takes that long for the hemoglobin bound to excess glucose to peter out.) So, yes, the next test should be in one month. If you are self monitoring your blood glucose, then the level for that at fasting should be below 126 mg/dl (7mmol/l) and random glucose level below 200 mg/dl (11.1mmol/l). This should bring the A1C to the required level.
A1C 7 correlates to mean plasma glucose level around 170mg/dl (9.5mmol/l). "Mean" means the average of daily glucose measurments, so, fasting will be much lower than this, while random glucose level may be just above 200.

Just keep doing what you are doing and that last number will go down. I know how it feels to be ready but you have to wait for approval to move forward. Hopefully it will all work out in time.

Thanks everybody. Doc Sanae, I take my sugar about 3 times a day. Mornings are usually high (165) but then tapers down over the course of the day to as low as 70 by the evening before dinner. I will just keep doing what I am doing and give it more time. Thanks for the info. Guess I am just too anxious. I should realize that the lower the better and that will give me time to get into better physical shape too. I am also exercising to help recovery time. You guys are all so great. it has been a frustrating day but you all have helped me calm down and be more realistic. Thanks. Mattie
