You are all wonderful. Its been reported that the looters are at it again (they all got caught in sept last year as well and that quake destroyed alot of property etc, but no lives lost and minimal injuries). They are actually looting, 6 got caught, when there are still many people missing and mostly presumed dead. One of the worst hit buildings has an estimated 100 people still inside, but its a recovery mission now, not a rescue. The building had students (12 still inside) from Japan, nurses taking tests to practise here, all sorts of people from around the world. My heart breaks to think of what happened to them. So my thoughts go out to all those around the world who have lost people in this terrible tragedy.
I know that other countries have been hit more often and with MASSIVE loss of life, tens of thousands, even in the hundreds of thousands, and its so awful to watch on the news. NZ always gives something to those countries, and the outpouring of support from around the world is huge. expert and financial help has been heartwarming and shows us all how people feel about this tiny country. It is a National Disaster and I am hoping so much that they will find more alive. The last one was a lady rescued yesterday at about 2pm, its now thursday 10.30am.
Thank-you, everyone, and yes, you do get attached to people here. It really is a family environment and I am proud to be a member of such a wonderful support group.
I havent been posting much, but I am thinking of you all and will be popping in from time to time. Annie, I am not going to let anything risk my good work so far, and I thank-you so much for your kindness and thought for my health and my sons.
He has had the theatre, got botox (no, they wouldnt give me the left overs... lol) and he is now sporting 2 casts on his legs. 1 red cast and 1 black cast. Christchurch's colours are red and black (the rugby team, and other sports teams) and I asked the nurse to do 1 of each as a show of support for our CHCH people.
Its not much but giving what little we can will add up.
I have to go, but yet again, thank-you for thinking and praying for us down here. It means alot.   |

Lee Lee, so glad that you and yours are OK. It is really awful that this has happened. My heart goes out to all those people just going about their business. I'm sure the whole of NZ is in shock; it is shocking for all of us to see the loss of life and the destruction. Please God the death toll won't rise too much. Also glad your son's procedure went well. You must be worn out. Take it easy. You are in our thoughts and prayers xx

Thank-you so much! I must admit, i am wiped out, so tired. Still havent heard from a friend, but must assume that his phone is out of juice and that he is with the Army working hard. No other reason can be considered. Havent seen anything on facebook, so will just continue to have faith that he is fine and working hard.

Hey everyone,
Well, I finally heard from my close friend down there yesterday. It was as I suspected, is working hard with the army and his phone wasnt working (something fell on it), so due to all the numbers being stored in one place, he had to wait. So glad he and his wife to be are ok.
I got a decent sleep last night as that worry had lifted. Very fortunate.
The death toll is still rising. I would be very surprised if anyone is still alive, but it would be so great, not only for the act itself of being alive for the person, and family etc etc, but also the moral of the rescuers. They have seen things and had to do things which, at least in NZ, is just "never" seen on a scale like this for us.
When I see other countries devastated by similar tragedies, it always breaks my heart, so we can only imagine, and we now have an idea, of how they all feel.
My mate said it looks like a war zone. And there are horrible stories of theft and impersonating officials to check on houses that are in line to be robbed. It makes me sick. One Lady, who perished in the CTV building, her family had just found out that she was missing and were down in the area by the building waiting for news, their house was wrecked and the doors etc couldnt be closed, and guess what happened? Yep, they got robbed on top of all the other stuff. Its people like that who make me cringe and feel ashamed that the rest of the world is watching us closely, aiding us, praying and keeping us close in their thoughts, and then reports emerge of that stuff going on, almost immediately after the earthquake! what is wrong with those "people"??? How can they think about robbing and ransacking at a time like this? and especially as soon as it hit? I will never understand it. They have forfeited their right to be in society, they have caused harm and hurt to those who are already suffering and stressed to breaking point, they need to be punished very severly. Unfortunately, that wont happen. It will be a pitiful punishment and they will be back on the streets and doing it again, just like the last big one. For us in NZ a lynch mob means going out to get the mongrel who has caused harm to people. It doesnt have the conotations that it has in the USA, so if it has offended anyone, that is not my intention, over here it means ANYONE who does harm should get a lynch mob on their a**es. I would love to head that. (I might get a wee bit passionate about certain things..lol Ok, most things... 
Another day has dawned bright and sunny, and me and my son are secure in the knowledge that up here, the earth doesnt shake and it would be a random act if it did. Down in Canterbury area (Christchurch and areas), they have had several aftershocks over mag 4...and there appears to be a mass exodus for people wanting to move. But where will they go? There is a housing shortage everywhere here. They must be stressed out of their minds. My heart goes out to them as the repercussions of this event will go on for a longtime.
