Thumbs up Cross your fingers for me....

Finally, I was able to get my OHIP Out of Country application together (I had been waiting on a couple of results from the vein clinic I went to on Monday)... and I sent it off today. I'm thinking that they can't possibly deny me a second time, not with all the documentation I included this time. LOL

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

fingers crossed swtpeach. I'm in Ontario (Carleton Place) also but i am having the surgery in Rochester with Dr.O'Malley. Where are you applying to have it done from. The first time i applied for the surgery was for having it in Montreal and they turned me down. Wierd that they accepted it for out of Canada.
Hope you hear soon

Default I think I have a good chance...

I am looking to have surgery with Dr Goodman in New Jersey. The reason I chose him is kind of by accident... I came across a link for his website, I believe it says something like "WLS for Canadians in the US with only a 3-4 month wait time". I read on further and they said that they coulod also help with the OCC forms to get approval... I decided to contact them for more information. The doctor himself emailed me back the next morning, and we've been emailing back and forth ever since. He has helped me tremendously in getting my paperwork together, and is so friendly and courteous... he's made time to answer every one of my emails (always the same day), contact my family doctor, send us both information..

I have been on this journey for 4+ years.. i cancelled a consult with one surgeon, had another surgeon retire right before my consult, driven to another province (8 hours) to have a consult with 3 days notice - I am still on that waiting list, but have had several attempts at contacting this surgeon blown off- I was also denied by OHIP last year for OCC, but I think that I didn't provide enough proof that they wanted. Since then my health has gone down and I decided I *can't* wait any longer!
My major co-morbidities include diabetes, lymphedema, DVT/PE, high blood pressure.. there are others...

So, with Dr Goodman's help, I put the following into my package:
*The application with BOTH tissue damage and death boxes marked
*Letters from: Dr Goodman, my family doc, my vascular surgeon, my Ob-Gyn, my urologist; my husband, 3 friends, my kids
*Several documents/articles showing that I am at an increased risk for premature death from cardiac arrest, have tissue damage from the LE and diabetes etc
*Pictures of me
*Pictures of the tissue damage to my legs from the LE (NOT pretty)
All in all, my package is about 75 pages...
If they deny me this time, I'm marching right into their office to show them in person!!! LOL

Peach, I love the fiery spirit you exhibit. I will be praying for your success this time around. It sounds as though you have put a lot of work and preparation into the paperwork. Good luck, and God bless.
