Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hello, hello, Well, DH is by no stretch of the imagination o/w. He needs to lose maybe 15lbs. Prior to surgery he was all gung-ho and even offered to go all liquid w/me while he was home (at work he would eat his lunch and eat his breakfast while I was asleep). Ooohh how the mighty do open their mouth and FALL -- .I think that after all of these years of me eating all unappropriated food in the house he feels "free" to keep all yummy things in the house like pizza rolls, chocolate, and chips. Prior to surgery there was never a chance for them to be shared as I would kill them off so quickly, kwim? I think that he is finding it liberating (not at my expense, I'm not feeling deprived or angry w/him) that he can HAVE and KEEP food in the house without it dissapearing. Anyone else experience the same?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Honey I havint had the surgery yet but my cousin who is at one year out now described the exact same thing to me. She called it mouring food. Hers was watching her son and BF at the time eating icream. She got sooooooooo MAD at them for it. I suppose im gonna do that to especially since my very thin 22 year old son eats all the good stuff to. |

| Yes, butterfly, I do have the same issues with wifey now, as we speak. I wonder, most days, if I will ever get over the mourning food syndrome, as I call it. Some days are very very hard for me. Watching the kids, and wifey eat all those "GOOD FOODS", as I call them. I, at that time, have alot of mixed feelings....jealousy being the main one....depending on what kind of a day I am having. Wifey is very good at not telling me though, if she and the kids do make a pit stop at Hardees, or McDonalds while they are out doing whatever. I appreciate that very much. I don't hold it against her, since I had the surgery for myself, and I was the one who made the decision to have it done, not them. Hard at times, but willing to stick with it for the long haul. I have worked hard to get where I am at, and do not intend on falling off the wagon, never to get on again. NO WAY! Keep pluggin along butterfly. We all know how you feel, in one way or another. mike |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | My hubby also continues to eat poorly. I try to encourage and teach as i go along but like myself until my eyes opened up and Me myself realized what i was doing was killing me he will continue until he is ready. I however make sure that when i go to the store i buy healthier things for the home. I have 4 children that i am trying to raise to make better choices then i did in the past. I do not obsess with it however I bring home the low fat crackers, or whole wheat breads skim milk etc. I do allow some junk food because they are kiddies so there are some cookies once in a while and candy however i stock up on popcorn, pretzles, yogurts , jellos , and things that are just healthier for them. I cook healthier meals that is something i have control over which is good. So I try to make a difference in the home as much as i can. Subtle changes over time they dont even realize. If they are hungry they will eat what is in front of them eventually.....But i do see hubby gaining, what he does is he works out more and turns it into muscle ...problem is those arteries dont care about his muscles..... Funny how we wake up and realize how bad we were eating, i know for me it was total Denial for a long time. So until his eyes are opened he will prob continue to gain the weight..All we can do is support and encourage change.... Love ya LittleLisaMarie ![]() |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | This is very interesting topic because when my mom and first went over the Duke WLS book she said the only real worry she had was not the surgery or the health risks because she knew I would be doing something good for myself. it was how it would affect the family. She said our family was very food oriented, which is very true. We are one of those families that why we are eating one family meal together we are planning the next one. When we get together as a family unit food is always around. We all love to cook and eat and we all struggle with our weight. Me being the largest and having the most trouble in the family. I simple told her, that I would have to change my ways but it would not change the family. Any ideas? Anna
