| Whipper Snapper | I had my WLS on 12/8/06. Started out at 285lbs. I am now 197-198lbs. Reached onederland last week. I have had absolutely no complications from my surgery. I only experienced dumping one time and that was when I had a tad to many oxtails. I should have known better because meat doesnt really sit well with me. When I eat meat it feels like a stone in my stomach.....anyone feel like this with meat? So I do not eat alot of meat. o some reason I can eat a good amount of shrimp, so guess what? Thats right I eat my share of shrimp. I just cant get over the fact that i have had no complications at all. I read where alot of folks eat or try things like rice, pasta, bread. I live in Miami and believe me there is a cuban restaurant on every corner with rice and beans available, but I have not been tempted at all to try them. I do take all of my vitamins regularly. At my 2 month post op Dr visit I was told to cut back on the b12.....that is how good things are going for me. Is there anyone out there who has made cottage cheese as much a part of their diet as I? I just buy fresh strawberrys or cantaloupe, dice them and mix in with cottage cheese with a couple packets of splenda.....man is that some good eatin. I do drink my cafe con leche every morning (cuban coffee with alot of milk) and usually have a cinnamon dolce latte @ starbucks in the p.m. (sf & ff of course). My weight loss has slowed now and that is good.....my initial goal was anything under 200lbs. Now that I am there everything else is gravy. It is so great to be normal size again. I will probably lose another 15-20 lbs over the next several months and that is fine.....do not really want to get less than 175-180lbs. Oh yeah....one more thing.....you just gotta love those lifesaver sf popsicles . |

| Whipper Snapper | So you even want some wow moments huh Doc? Well let me see.....I was in Macy's a couple of weeks ago and saw some Polo cargo pants that looked very cool, size 36" waist. I bought them, did not try them on at the store. Got home and put them on and.....you guessed it, they where a bit to big. Had to return them and get a size 34. That was pretty cool. |

| Seems to me, you are doing A-OK! That is great. I, to, had no complications after surgery. When I was able to, I had no probs with meat......nothing really. I was lucky. I only had one episode of that dreaded rock feeling in my stomach......OUCH! It was on the tiniest peice of a turkey burger. I really don't know to this day what happened....if I swallowed it too fast, or it was too big of a peice. I didn't barf, but learned my lesson very quickly on chewing longer, and not to take big bites. An old habit from my past......gulping food down. lol I am assuming it was one of the two that caused it. I really don't know, just that it was not a good feeling. Good for you once again, on doing a fantastic job so far with everything. Keep us posted. mike |
