Unhappy Your opinions please...

Hi everyone. I haven't been around as much as normal...been having a very rough time at work. I am ready to jump ship. The thought of going in tomorrow makes me gag. Things have been very stressful for quite some time but things keep getting worse and I can no longer cope. I have tried communicating my issues with my manager to no avail. She either does not understand or is chooosing to bury her head in the sand. It is effecting my life, including my eating and I'm feeling like it's going to end up costing me more then the insurance or steady employment that I now have. It isn't something that I just came up with. I was supposed to be reviewed 3 mos. ago and the manager says she will get to it, she never does. It's not the money exclusivly. It is the lack of comprehension that the powers that be seem to have and choose to ignore to correct. 2 of my best workers have left and the 3rd is looking. The fill-ins don't even have job descriptions to go by, even though they were written by myself when I first started the job 6 mos. ago. The manager simply hasn't gotten around to give them out. It's just nuts.
Sorry for going on but I know it's not good to jump ship without a job in hand. On the other hand my head is way overloaded and pre occupied, partly because I can no longer eat to cope and partly because the whole thing is so darnned distracting.
Please help with your opinions. Thanks.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi Kat...One thing I do no about is stress...and also stress at work. When I get my sergury and get healthier ,thats the next thing on my agenda,is to get another job ( im on disabiity now ). But I wont give up my job I have now untill Im 100% sure I have another 1 ! If I were you I would take a day off just to look around and see whats out there. I looked at your profile and saw that you were a chef. I would think that there would be plenty of places looking for a chef thats already trained. Thats what employers look for is knowledge of the job ie ..experience and the way you present yourself..ie..good mannerism . I read some of your posts...I dont think youll have any problems! Hope I helped you Kat...Good Luck !!

Well Kat, that's a tough one. I personally wouldn't leave a job unless I had another lined up, but if you are not the main breadwinner then you have a little more leeway.

Do you feel as if you could talk to your manager and ask her why she thinks people are leaving? Or do you think it would help if you told her that if things didn't start getting better around there you will be looking for another job? Some times that can backfire and they tell you to hit the bricks, bet then you should be able to collect unemployment.

Your in a tough place, and I don't envy you. But in the end you know your situation and you know what is right for you.

Hi Kat,

Bless ya heart. I have been there and did that. Of course I would say wait until you get another job.....however....I did that once to the point I got physcially ill. You did a life change by having surgery. You wasnt happy with youself before then. Your not happy with your job. Why do we have to make it so complicated to leave somthing so simple but we risk our lives to be happy on the other end? Insane Yes !!!

Alot of these gals and guys are gonna get me for this but.... You were looking for a job when you got the one you got. You can look for another now. If its making you sick to even think about working there...... honey quit. I personally have to enjoy a job to work. If I dont its not fair the employer or to myself. Im proud of you turing to the boards for help.

You have my opinion and some are gonna disagree but I have done it before and I know where you comming from. Do what is best for you Kat. Noone else can.

You take care ........

Thanks. Yes I have talked to the boss before, muliple times. There aren't many chefs jobs in this area of the country with benis. I moved here to be with my family and have already took a 35% hit in salery, even when cost of living is considered. HR for the company is my next option. It's just such a bunch of crap. I'm not used to having to fight for something on this level.
I have been looking in the papers since the 1st of the year. I'm thinking about taking tomorrow for decompressing. I guess I deserve one in 6 mos. of work, no?
Thanks for the input.

Awww ((((((HUGS)))))))
You're a talented and conscientious person, it's so sad that there are people around who can not appreciate that.
Things obviously were different pre-op, so before you took your present job, you weren't sure where your limits would be. You've been working for 6 months now, so you know now what you can deal with, and what you can't. That's a starting point. A job that makes you go astray of your charted course in the way it is now, can't be a good job for you. You now are armed with the knowledge of what works for you, so, though the finaces obviously would be scary, but it sounds to me that getting off is the best. Of course, it would be better if you could have something lined up before you jump the wagon, but, if you need to do it before you get screwed big time, then you should.
((((((HUGS))))))) I'm sure you'll be able to find something unexpectedly fitting for you, when you least expect it.

Default Job problems

Kat,
If it really gets bad, do you do something that is in demand enough that you could find temp work in it. I would have always been able to find temp work when i was unemployed. If you can't stand this any longer, start calling temp agencies, sometimes they can have work for you the next day, and they can sometimes find full-time perminate jobs for you.

I am very sorry you are having a hard time.

Anna
