Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I started solids today, actually last night. I did alright last night with a Wt Watchers chicken dinner with creamed spinach. I ate 1/2 of it and froze the rest. However, this a.m. I decided to try a piece of toast with ICBINB spray and 1 tsp of sugar free apricot preserves. Now my tummy hurts. I don't even feel like drinking any water either. Was that too much too soon? I read where others are having toast. It is on my list for 6 wk out. it's not that extreme but I am very uncomfortable. |

| Super Moderator | The toast may have been a bit dry yet for your pouch. Tolerance differs from person to person, so even if it's on your list, you may not do well with it. Or, it may be fine tomorrow. At this point, especially when you move on to solid food, you may find that your pouch is pickey. At 6 weeks, your pouch is not yet completely healed, it taked about 3 mos, so there will still be some swelling in your pouch. Also, the portion of the stomach that the pouch is made out of, secretes almost no digetive juice (digestive juice is secreted in the mid-lower portion of the stomach) so something dry may not sit well early out. If you drink water while the food is still in the pouch, the food will swell, which will make you uncomfortable. If you feel too uncomfortable, it may be best to as a last resort. Hang in there, ((((((HUGS))))))) Hope you feel better soon.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I think the toast was too dry and much that early out. YOU might have done better with a soda cracker....RITZ kind of....I didnt do bread for a very long time post op because of the high carbs even toasted. GOOD luck its a learn as you go process and you will get the hang of it....!!!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I'm 8 weeks out and I haven't even tried toast yet...crackers don't bother me at all ...I was told to do softer foods like scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal, soft cheeses (not melted), any moist meats, etc.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i THINK YOU ARE ALL RIGHT. It was too dry, AND I want to go back and slow down a bit..eating solid foods is a bit scary and I like the safety of eating little portions of soft and moist. Thanks to you all. :-) |
