| Super Moderator  |  Oklahoma! First off, there was a thread about the rain, storm and tornados in Kanasa from bren about a week ago. So, bren, how is the river running by your house now? I hope all is okay. So, now, I saw earlier today in the news here that Oklahoma has been getting heck of a lot of rain, and the screen showed flooding in Oklahoma City, while the reporter was explaining that ALL the streets of the entire city is flooded  with lots of power outage and stuff!! I sure hope y'all out there are safe and dry.Yup, and BreeChick, I mean you!!  (((((((HUGS)))))))

I live next door to my mom and their koi/goldfish pond overflowed into the yard and they lost 4 of their largest fish  Yesterday on the way to work I went a wee bit too fast out of the street turning right and nearly flooded out my engine..urgg! Lost the power steering for a bit which was scarey!  Pray for rescue workers here too as the firefighters have done a lot of deep water recovery/rescue the past 2 days.

The question we are all asking as we wake up to yet another overcast WET day! I work my shift today and am already dreading trying to figure out how to stay dry! | Super Moderator | So, how is the weather for the weekend in Kanasas, Missouri and Oklahoma? I hope it's getting better now. BreeChick, your mother's Koi escapade made me remember the aftermath of a typhoon here when I was 17.  Typhoon season here is normally late July-early November, but sometimes we get 'em earlier. Some 40 years ago, one came mid June. The apartment we were living in then, had a canal running behind it, on the other side of a field about the size of a football field. The canal originated from the pond of one of the largest parks in Tokyo, about a 30 minute walk from our home. Now, this pond is home to numerous koi, some of which escaped into the canal when rain from the typhoon flooded the pond and the canal (our apartment was on ground about 3 feet higher than the field, so we escaped the flood  ) and the next day, when I came home from school, I noticed a lot of people lined up along the canal with fishing rods and nets. They were catching the koi that had escaped from the park pond.

I really wanted to cut my lawn darn!!! the yard is mushy it is so wet. So my eldest son & I got creative and had a crabgrass pulling party out front while it's so wet. That stuff is trying to overtake the yard. We got a huge garbage sack full and there is still a bunch of it! I'm gonna have to reseed the nice grass which has stayed short! I have a small green house and in the bunch of seedling trays I planted um...12? squirrel donated and planted acorn (oak) trees LOL Guess they're trying to give back something for all the sunflower seeds I put out which they steal from the doves!!! --bree
