Default Why Why WHY????

Do I do this to myself? I know that I dump, horribly (yes 4 years out) but on my way home from work the taco bell was calling my name and I ordered a nacho supreme. I waited until I got home and ate most of it. And I am just now recovering from the most horrible dumping episode I have had in a long time, the sweating, vomiting , dry heaving and just wanting to die. I am actually in pain, my stomach hurts so freaking bad right now.

I know I am human, but you would think it would be a deterrent if I knew that this was going to happen. I would never EVER eat something like that on my way to work or at work, because I know how sick it makes me.

Before I had surgery I used to pray that I would dump, and in a way it is a deterrent (I can tell you that I will not be eating taco bell for the rest of my life).

I know part of it is that I am PMSing and I ALWAYS do/eat stupid things, and I end up getting so sick that I don't do it again until next month , you would think a grown (40 year old) woman would learn from her mistake, but noooooooooooooooo.

I have never admitted this to anyone, but I am not perfect. I am still a super morbidly obese woman, I just weigh 115 lbs now, but inside I am still a fat girl and I always will be. This journey never ends, and I take it one day/bite at a time I will always struggle to make the correct food choices. I just wanted others to know that even as successful as I have been, I too make mistakes.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Blessing go out to you and thank you for being so honest. Our problems do not go away or our way of thinking about food just because our stomachs are smaller. We are still the same people. My prayer is that tomorrow will be a new much better easier day for you.

Awww, (((((HUGS))))
Hope you are feeling better today.

Well, so, you didn't pig out like you did pre-op, did you? Give yourself a pat on the back that it was only one taco, not 2 or 3 or whatever. You are doing so well, once in a while you'll slip, no body's perfect, so just dust your hands off and get back on the wagon.

Now, the call of the Taco Bell-that's a kind of conditioned reflex, a trigger. With alcoholics, no matter how many sober years under your belt, under certain conditions, only a very brief flash will act as a trigger. Whether you react to the trigger, or realize it for what it is, and refrain from the next action, is what makes the difference. Also, the longer time has passed, the better you are at not reacting to the trigger. This goes the same for food as well, so it will be the best for you to recognize your triggers for what they are. And yes, PMS will make it difficult to resist, some times.

You're doing fine, you 'fessed up, so, you've done the right thing. That's the most important thing.

(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

(((HUG)))))

I can sort of relate to this...i dont tend to dump that badly but i have a food that i try over and over and every time to date i have puked it. I probably dont get a full dump because i get it out of me .....for me my weakness is CHINESE take out food. I know everytime i will get sick but
never stop haveing it with the family. I never fully undersstand why I just
dont have it then vomit badly after it.........so i think personally its normal
and your probably not the only bypass patient who knowingly will eat
something knowing we will get sick, i do it!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing that, it gives everyone a glimmer of hope. I too have my weaknesses and always pay for it afterwards. I don't really vomit anymore but get the shakes and sweats and always wonder why I do it and swear I never will again and yet the next time TOM is coming I do it again I guess that is what makes us human!!

{{{{{HAZEL}}}}}
At 5 yrs out I hear ya! I still get the pmsing even with no uterus..darn those ovaries anyway! LOL...TOM is terrible with it's 'call to eat the bad stuff'.
What you said about not being perfect and that you are still are a super morbidly obese person just one that is 115 lbs..YES! what a great acknowledgement!
My dumping episodes are very painful now especially since anything 'bad' gets absorbed all at once due to it immediately going into that small intestine :-( and it can be something I've eaten before and not dumped on!
Hey even for us long termers, it's still a learning process and that is totally OK

more {{{hugs}}} to ya

Thank you for your post. With just being 1 1/2 weeks post op, I think it is a great reminder that it WILL be a lifelong committement. You are human, you make mistakes. We ALL will. We have an ADDICTION, something that we will battle with for the rest of our lives!! But I think it is very important to realize (pre-op) that this is ONLY a tool. And I see that reminder here, time and time again, which is a VERY good thing. Just pick yourself up, and try again. You're doing a great job!!
