Thumbs down I need to throw up

Sometimes I feel like I really need to throw up but when I go to do it all that comes upas spit even if I don't wait to do it. I have even tried sticking my finger down my throat to try and throw up I still cannot get it to come up, it has been this way since I had my surgery. Sometimes I just know I would feel better if I could throw up!!! Any suggestions??

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Honestly, I dont think you should get in the habbit of doing that. I know the feeling. I've definitely been there, butmaybe you shoulnt eat what's making you feel that way, or eat it differently? just a suggestion. I have had that feeling a few times, mostly when i either didnt chew well enough or ate something i wasnt ready for...and i did everything i could NOT to throw up.

Awww sorry your feeling so and just cant...
i know early out the only thing i mostly would get up
was foamies....and later it was more. BE careful with throwing up
during your healing stages...i know at times i was QUEEN thrower
upper which i dont nearly as much these days.

NOW another friend of mine had the trouble you speak of and even talked to her surgeon about it and that there are some who post op just cant throw up ...you might be in the category! (((HUG))!!!!

Hmmm. Sounds kinda like "foamies."
I haven't seen anyone mentioning this recently, but FemmeMode and some others had this kind of thing going on early out. If you search the posts and threads that went up about a year or so ago, through last summer, you'll run across the same thing you are experiencing now.
A few things to consider. Are you eating slowly, and chewing thoroughly? If not, start there.

Red face Oooohhhh Yea!!!!

Doc, I'm sooooo there with you....
I immediately thought of ALL my episodes with "FOAMIES" last summer....
Oh my.....
_______________________________________

Court - I was 2mos. out when my foamies started....and now, every so often get them too. There is a similarity....so I really think for me I nailed it in the summer.

First off....my 'foamies' came out of no where....and I just didn't understand...also I only had 'foam'...and "spit-like"....no food. What Doc says is true....I think I got a little too comfortable eating...
  • and didn't chew ENOUGH -
  • the other thing is I OVERATE.....
One or both of these things will cause foamies for me.
  • The third thing that I came up with was "PROCESSED FOODS"....
strangely enough, this is STILL true for me....one or all of these things will can cause foamies. My surgeon told me you are More suseptable in your early stages.
(Your inside healing can take 90 to 120 days....to heal your inside wounds from surgery. ~ So, my Doc suggested that this just elevated my issues.)

________________________________________

Some of the Processed foods that would be dangerous for me.....
  • Taco Bell - "pintos & chz"
  • ANY 'deli cut meat' (all processed.)
  • any 'fast food' - even salads from McD's or Wendy's.
I was on a trip...so I started eating cheeses...fruits.... triskets...nuts...and really was careful with eating and that pretty much cured it

Sorry you feel

However as said before make sure you are eating slow, chewing well and eating the right foods. It does sound like foamies. ANd i know for sure some days when i eat to fast or eat to much i tend to toss it back up and feel much better. But forceing it back up is a no no. Espically when your healing. Good luck and hope this passes.

my first thought was it was a lot about that "one bite more" issue. I still get this even at 5 yrs out but I have a lot of issues now because of the overlarge stoma. It is always that one bite or two too many that makes that pressure and feeling. Early on I wasn't able to throw up exept when I had the stoma close to a pinpoint! I would salivate and spit feeling that sensation of wanting to vomit. However in the end the 'vomit sensation' would actually move DOWN instead of up and everything would hurry out the other end..ewww.

I've heard that "foamies" term and issue before too!

I've also heard the chat of many gals who got in the 'habit' of throwing up when they ate that bite too many and you know there IS a term for that! bulimia! Then surprise! a year later they get scoped and find their pouch was ulcerated..um...ya think?

What I had to learn to do early on was :
take ONE bite
Put the fork/spoon down
CHEW thoroughly
SWALLOW
Wait about 15-20 seconds at least!
Take another bite

--oh and something to think about--our mouth holds MORE than our pouch does! Bites should be SMALL!!

See, this surgery also does something else for us. It forces us to have to RE-Learn how to eat correctly, it's not just about the "diet" or food plan, it's about not eating/drinking at same time, it's about chewing foods thoroughly and taking TIME with eating.

I still to this day watch the hugely obese when out eating, just as I watch the skinnies! The obese wolf their food down and I know I did that before too. The warning sign for ME is when I eat too quickly my food crawls back up my throat and I've nearly tossed it back on my plate.

Even after all this time, with this new issue going on, I'm having to re-learn things!
