Default 16 days post surgery-needing advice

I have been Stressing the past three days since my Doctor moved me to soft mushy foods. He told me I didn't need to have my protein drinks too. But I don't understand how to get in 70mg of protein a day if I don't have the protein drinks. I can only eat 2 oz's 3 times a day. So I choose the highest amount of soft food I can for protein and by the end of the day I'm still at 15 to 25 mg of protein. Today I added back in my protein shakes. Does this sound correct or should I continue with the shakes plus eating my 3 2oz meals?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Yes, this sounds correct. Getting all your protein and all your water is most important. It will get easier to eat more protein in different forms as you go on, but it is quite early for you. I am still drinking a shake some days, or adding protein powder into sugar free pudding and I am 4 months out.

By moving you to the next phase, your doctor began the process of transition that will eventually see you eating your protein instead of drinking it. I doubt he intended that you go cold turkey from liquids to solids.

He gives you permission. Your pouch says what is possible. Your pouch has the final word. Just because you may doesn't always mean you can!

I had used Body Fortress Super Whey Protein Shot, Fruit Punch, they have the same amount of protein as the shakes but are alot less to actually drink.

Thank you. I can really listen and use all the advice as i can. I have missed my classes for nutrition. I've only been able to attend one. My Doctor doesn't really talk to me about the nutrition part he leaves that up to everyone else. I added back in two of my protein drinks as I just can't eat/drink enough to even get half of the amount of protein. I've been all over this site reading and looking at information.
So please any advice you can give me will be listened too.
Thank you.

I'm 2 and a half months out and I make a shake in the morning using ice, soy milk, frozen fruit, and whey isolate protein powder. I nurse it throughout the mornng at work and stop a half hour before lunch. It keeps me full and tastes awesome! I know I'll be drinking shakes for a while. I'm cool with that. :-) Protein and water first and all else will fall into place.

I think that's pretty much the norm. That's what the nutritionist is for, if you can schedule an appointment with you NUT it would be a good idea, she/he can give you good advice and you can ask her any questions you have about your food.

I'm 11 days out and on the soft diet as well. I don't have a nutritionist but did see one pre-op and was given lots of literature on the phases of eating after surgery and mine says I should be eating 3-2oz meals AND 3-2oz snacks a day AND drink 3 protein shakes a day on a schedule that starts at 8am and ends at 9pm. Now there is NO WAY on erth I can consume that much in a day yet, I do good to do 2 of the meals and 2 of the shakes though I still vary my liquids the rest of the day like I did on the liquid diet. But ALL the research I've done and all the literature I have say the same thing as DarlingClaire said: Protein and water first and all else will fall into place.

The most important thing right now as everyone said is protien and water...I know its hard, and overwhelming...I am one month out this Thursday.
And I am still trying to get enough protien in, thanks to Perfesser and this place I have learned that the crock pot is my family and mines best friend...
I am frustrated though I am hardly eating ANYTHING and yet my weight isnt going anywhere, for like over a week!! UGH!!!!!!!!
