Question Shakes are gross!

Ok, I don't have a fortune to spend on trying all the different brands and types of protein so I polled the posts on here and went with Premiere Choc. Powder. No matter how mix it, thick or thin, it still has the consistency of a good slimy hocker. I swear I'm drinking a glass of spit! I'm only 11 days out so trying to mix the powder with say pudding or even cream of wheat would expand it to the point I couldn't eat it all..... Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with it and what I might try when this is gone? I've headr good things about Carnation instant breakfast but couldn't find the sugar free ANYWHERE....

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

my doc wants his patients to use Bariatric Essentials - you have to buy it through his website - so I haven't tried any other types. (with the exception of unflavored unjury - which was gross).

Are you mixing yours with water or milk? I find that if I use water with mine, the consistency is different.

If I remember correctly the SF carnation instant breakfast only has 5 grams of protein, so you wont get much in the way of protein from that. There are several online places that will sell sample packets of protein for about $3 maybe you could get some samples and see if you find something you can tolerate better. My go to protein powder is GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey powder or the Gold Standard 100% Whey powder, it's not chalky and mixes up real well in milk and to me it has a really good taste. Good luck on your quest to find some protein I know it's something a lot of folks struggle with.

Been doing it with water but trying it with milk today, it came out supper thick almost like pudding so I stuck it in the freezer for a few hrs to see if it comes out like ice cream and then I'll try it......

I get my protein "shake" from starbucks. I get a vent skinny decaf latte (any skinny sf flavor) with two scoops of protein steamed with the milk. So far as I can tell from the nutritional info for starbucks it's got 35g. And it's not gross. It has saved me. Good luck!!!

I remember that complaint. I said it. Once you're able to eat more and use less protein shakes it'll be better. I only drink 1 shake a day. And I use a little more milk so it's not as thick. Good luck with this. It will get better.

I have Bariatric Advantage unflavored protein. One scope is 27 gram protien. I use cystal light and make it thick as a milkshake. Sometimes with half a banana or strawberrys or coconut flavoring.

Unjury is my favorite by far. I tried a few and it's really the only one I can tolerate!
