I started out just before Thanksgiving and couldn't even run a minute at a time- I was looking at running/jogging websites and found one that I signed up for (running.com I think), it was starting a 30-minute running habit. So every day for 5 weeks I got an email with a training program. I would run a minute, walk a minute x 5 repeats, then every day/week became a bit more challenging until I was able to run/walk about 4 miles in 50 minutes!! So now I can run about 7-9 minutes, then break and go again when ready. I'll never be fast or compete with any time but my own, but it gave me a goal. Lots of people walk it, and there was a 10k at the same time, and some of those folks (bastards!) passed me. It was all for a personal challenge. And yes, my knees to bother me. I am faithful about icing them after running....and today I have aches and pains in places I didn't know about.

I'm really looking forward to swimming with the warmer weather, and I've thought of a bike too, we'll see.
