Okay, so I haven't been able to tolerate breads as well as my first shot....so bread is a no go for me (I'm putting it on my restricted list) I can eat lettuce really well and actually have been losing steadily again. I find the lettuce helps regulate me digestively speaking.....and it tastes yummy with my meats. But here's the bad part......I had some popcorn tonight for a snack?! About 3 cups of popped Act 2 butter popcorn.......I was hungry and wanted to try something new. So my husband popped a bag.....and I measured it out into a mini bowl for me......I'm not having any repreocutions yet.....will I??? My 2 yr old likes to finger through my paper work and ripped my pages of the diet no no's......I think if I look back now popcorn is one of those you should wait a while before returning too.....ugh....I read on someone else's blog that they had delayed dumping and gained weight......AHHHH!!!!! I want my income to increase not my weight?!!!!!!! Any advice help or suggestions before the pos dumping arrives?

Your surgeon allows bread at the stage you are in? Mine doesn't allow bread, pasta, or rice until you have lost 75% of you excess body weight. I have heard that when add them back in, you need to do in extremely small amounts, as they swell in your stomach, causing discomfort if you eat too much.

Whether or not you will dump from pop corn just depends on the individual - some will, some won't. If you DO dump, there's no way to stop it from happening once you've swallowed something you shouldn't. The only way to avoid dumping is to not eat it in the first place.
I'm more concerned that you are chosing a food that has very little nutritional value (yes, it's got fiber, that's about it) and is high in fat, carbs and salt. I know the smell of pop corn is overwhelming and sometimes we fall off the wagon and eat things we shouldn't. Just recognize that you DID "fall off the wagon" by eating this and try to avoid it in the future.
It's soooo hard when your family is eating something that smells so good, but you'll be happy you resisted when all those pounds disappear.

Wow, bread and popcorn this early out? I was a year out before I tried popcorn. Bread swells up in my pouch unless I toast it and then I still don't eat much of it. And like NQB said if you do dump, there wont be a way to stop it once you put the food in your tummy.

| I think you are trying foods too early out. I didn't have bread (toast) for 4? months... I think fresh fruit and salads also about that time. I have never done pop corn... since I have diverticulosis issues I will probably avoid popcorn forever. When you try a new food, try a little bit. See how it goes... Maybe your nut can give you another list. It is exciting to move ahead but you want to be a little cautious on the way! Good luck.

I still don't eat bread. It causes me pain. I've heard that toasting it helps, but then I think that I really don't need it, why bother. I'm still at a place where getting in my protein is my main priority. However, I have had popcorn at the movies. 1/2C is my limit for any food. I'm worried that I might stretch out my pouch. I hope that you didn't dump. It sounds miserable. Good luck! You are doing great!

Everyone has an off-day. Just get back on the program, tape together your rules and get back to following them. Forgive yourself, too. You are going to be fine.

toast or cracker w/ peanut butter is on my stage 4 diet.... I've been told to stay away from popcorn because they're empty calories (but man does it smell good when it's popping.... not worth it though IMHO)

I have tried bread, toasted...about a teaspoon of it and realized i didnt like the flavor much anymore. I also felt guilty about eating it because it had absolutely no nutritrional value and didnt feel it was fair to my body to fill it with something crappy when I should be filling it with protein (yeah, these are the types of internal dialogues I have with myself). I have also tried popcorn...two pieces. I ripped away the hard corn shell and ate the white fluffy part and...no suprise...i found it was a lot of work with only a little flavor. So not worth it.
I totally agree that salad and meat tastes really good together. I love to wrap thin sliced turkey in a romaine lettuce wrap with a little cheese...yummy, and healthy!
I would really recommend trying to get another copy of the approved food/vitamin list from your nutritionist. To be honest, I STILL look at mine on occasion because sometimes I just need a refresher. My latest was deciding to buy calcium citrate or carbonate...my surgeon doesnt want me to take any calcium til Im 3 months out which is just a couple weeks away. The pharmacist at the store was absolutely NO help. I literally had to come home, review my paperwork, and have yet gone back to the store to purchase the vitamins Im gonna need to start taking. My point is: the paperwork is essential and you are gonna need it time again in the months to come.
((((HUGS)))) You got this!
