so this is day 4 and I am starving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am doing 'all the right things' and am totally convinced that the surgery didn't even work! I am so hungry despite the protein and water all day long, I can fill my pouch w/ more than what I think I am supposed to, not because I am trying but because I am hungry....what gives?? I am still bloaty but my bowels moved last night - I am going up on the scale (don't even ask why I weighed - what an idiot -right?!?!?)

Just totally bumming. I want pizza or soda or ice cream or anything I can sink my teeth into. I am totally not having fun right now. I know it's HELL WEEK but come on, am I the only one that thinks the surgery just didn't work?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Jina, don't freak I felt the same way. The first couple days after my surgery I was completely satisfied with the three ounces and protein. As the week wore on I was HUNGRY. All that broth and jello just wasn't doing the job. And the darn TV doesn't help at all with the commercials. Hang in there, you'll be in the full liquid stage in a few days. It is much, much better. However I am at the end of that stage and starting to get a little hungry. I thing it's more boredom with the same foods for me now but it is definitly better than the clear liquid stage.

When I came home from the hospital I was up two pounds and BLOATED! Gas X helped with that.

I got on the scale this morning and I am down 11 pounds from what I weighed pre surgery. Seeing that calmed me right down.

So don't freak, I went through the exact same thing.

Hi Jina! I was just where you are a few weeks ago. I think its all the minds cruel way of trying to keeo you fat. Think happy thoughts. You're not "hungry" you just think you should be lounging munching on something. Have some jello. Listen to your pouch instead of your head.

I ot sure what your surgeon recommends but I was required to drink something every hour on the hour alternating protein and diet beverage or water. I never felt hunger. Still havent actually and I am a month out. Maybe its your meal plan that could use some tweeking? when you get up to the full fluids you should be able to manage better. It gets easier I promise.

Stay away from the tv. ITS THE DEVIL!!!! The commercials make it really bad. We all go thru it. And once you settle in you will realize that you dont even have an appetite at all. Start writing in a journal if you dont already. It's great therapy. You're doing fine.

Hi Jina! Relax! To use the words of DocSanae when I was experiencing the same thing..."there is no way this surgery will not work". I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing hunger. I did not have to deal with that too much until about a month out. Everyone is different, and their bodies react differently. I agree with Kenyar when she says that full liquids should help some. The problem I had was thinking there was no way I could get all that fluid and protein in! I felt like I just couldn't hold it. It just goes to show how different we all are. At the time you are experiencing this, it seems like it will last forever, but it will soon be a memory and you will be able to eat a little more and then feel better. Hang in there! You are doing great. Just be patient.

For me, ANYTHNG--even a liquid--that has 1) carbohydrates or 2) MSG in it will make me believe that I am starving to DEATH!!! You might want to check broths you're using for msg.

I drink a lot of herbal tea. I also pretty much limit myself to protein foods (which would be near to impossible for you at THIS moment), especially shakes from the whey powder, mixed w/non-fat milk. It takes care of the hunger.

Another WEIRD thing for me--is that chewing gum helps!!! Trident has all of these new flavors out and the sweetness of the gum seems to last forever. CRAZY--but chewing gum, while drinking water, helps me out a lot!!! LOL

XOXO

Default I'm With You

Hey there, I'm a month out and I stared getting hungry after about two days from the hospital which was day five for me. Mind you I am Type II Diabectic and was takeing insulin shot, so my doctor said the insulin was probably driving the hunger. I have now been off the insulin for about two weeks now and have noticed that I am now more mentally hungry than physicalyy hungry if that makes any sense? Also in the first week I was home from the hospital I could not feel my pouch feeling up at all. I thought something was wrong. In the second week after surgery all that changed and I now know what full is and most meals I cant eat more than a few bites before filling up but my brain tells me I should eat more.I cant answer for you but I now realise that having this surgery demands you undergo some serious behavior modification. Following your pouch over your mind and feelings is hard work Luckily the longer out from surgery the more options you will have for eating, so I believe it will get better for both of us. Try drinking your liqids slowly and listen to your pouch over your brain good luck

I totally understand what you are going through..i had the surgery ten days ago and i get hungry too but i dont think it the hunger its a habit of eating-chewing on something,,what really helps me is to chew ice...lol really it does and try to stay away from seeing or smelling foods
