Default My First Episode With The Foamies

OMG I don't want that again!!! Today I was able to start soft foods so I decided scrambled egg for breakfast. Well I only got half of it down and Jigs got the the other half. (He loved it). I felt like I had a lot of air bubbles down there. I got very tired so I laid down for about 1/2. I hadn't taken my meds yet so I crushed them, put them in grape juice and thought I drank it slowly.

Holy Moly the air bubble pain was horrible. My husband rubbed my back because that is where it was hurting. I just wanted to burp but every time I tried I thought I was going to throw up. I finally took some Gas X and a few minutes later I was in the bathroom . But the only thing that came up was foam and a couple of dry heaves after that. But I felt much better and then I burped a couple of times and felt much better.

So does it sound like dumping to you? I have my two week check up tomorrow and will be sure to mention it to my surgeon. I think I'll be back to soup for lunch but I am waiting until I know I am hungry. Don't want that episode again.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Oh dear!! Sorry to hear that you went through this horrible experience! well that doesn't really sound like dumping it's like the food didn't really settle down in your stomach! I had bad experience with eggs at the beginning too!

dumping is more like you feel that you're heart beats so hard, sweating, very exhausted , you feel like you'll black out, cold, sometimes your ends numb you feel like the core of the earth is sucking you! it's truly an ugly feeling! I normally have it when I eat sugar =/ or when I eat over greasy food! yuck!
Now I hate all the food that caused me dumping! excluding chocolates hehehe I wish if I can hate them! I'm so weak infront of them and totally forgot about the dumping infront of them!

Lately I'm having hard times with chocolates especially now I can watch the american food network (home and garden TV channel) there is one chef called jack torass I think he's swiss or Belgium aaaaahhh this guy knows how to hit my nerves

I think I will ask my husband to delete this channel because I'm totally helpless and turn to a chocolate-zilla after wards!

Be more careful honey, I hope the coming days will be better for ya
Love,
Hanadi

Oh Jeanne, So sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I guess we will learn what we can tolerate through trial and error. Doesn't sound like dumping. I sure hope neither one of us ever has to deal with that. Hanadi makes it sound horrible as I am sure it is. Hey, but really good up until this episode right? Any regrets? People are making me second guess if my decision is right? Jeanne I am epending on all of you to keep me upbeat and not doubt myself. Mattie

Doesnt sound like dumping, but it could have been. Everyone reacts different. I was told to add milk to my eggs before scrambling, to make them softer. Also grape juice was a no no for me. Unless its artificially sweetend of course. but even natural juices can make you dump. its hard to say if you actually dumped lol. im sorry you went thru that so early out. i only vomitted for the first time officially yesterday and i'm 5 weeks or so post. again i'm, so sorry you went thru it. tomorrow is another day. keep your chin up. it gets easier.

Mattie it's been a breeze up until this morning. Even if I knew I was going to have this episode I would still go ahead with the surgery. Remember me saying I'm off my diabetes meds? That was my number one goal and I hit that leaving the hospital. My blood sugars have been running from 120's to 140's with a few higher here and there. I may end up going back on one med for now but it still is worth it.

I'm pretty sure now the eggs didn't go down. I may have cooked them a little too hard. I tried tomato soup at lunch and had the same problem. I'm going to try broth for supper and see if that works better. I will certainly be talking to my surgeon tomorrow about this.

U mentioned drinking grape juice was it watered down? or sugar free???/
the way you got tired and layed down is a mild dumping sign.

YOU do take antiacids of some sort???some surgeons put people on TUMS, priolosec??? that helps but foamies come for different reasons...for me i felt i got them being i sucked at eating slo.....

GOOD LUCK
feel well and these things happen.
SOMETIMES eggs are a hard food right off to try on the soft food stage.
SO that could have gotten to u you. VERY hard to say and its all trial at your early stage.
ONE day foods will do well others they wont hard stage!

Just wanted everyone, especially Mattie to know that supper went just fine. I actually did the tomato soup again and it went down just fine. Even had some pudding. It was the darn eggs. Gonna wait a little while before I do those again.

I never did well with eggs post op. Sometimes I can eat about a half of a scrambled egg or a hard boiled egg but they leave me feeling a little yucky.. and please make sure your not drinking the grape juice full force it has lots of sugar in it even the light grape juice is pretty strong with sugar.

Awww, ((((((HUGS))))))
The getting tired and resting bit sounds like mild dumping, but then again, if it was just eggs, and nothing with sugar in it, it's probably just foamies, as dumping is caused by sugar or sugar alcohol.
Grape juice is something else though, that can cause dumping, especially commercial stuff, since these most surely will have some sort of sugar added to it, even the sugar free ones may have sugar alcohol in them, so you need to take care. Also, the acid in fruit juice sometimes obstructs the absorbtion of some meds, so you need to be aware of that as well.
When taking meds, water is actually best, but if you feel uncomfortable with cold water, heat it up a bit, you'll probably do better.
