Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | The only thing that is keeping me somewhat sane is lending support to my fellow posters. But I feel like I am losing my mind. A few weeks ago, 5 to be exact, I wanted to eat anything and everything in site and practically did. Now, I dont even want my little 2 or 3 ozs of chicken breast, or my fruit cup. I feel a little down because I cant snack at all. Ive lost my best friend in the whole world which is sad to say. Food used to be my everything. When I was sad I could run to it, when I was happy I'd indulge in it. And now, I just can't. I know you will all say thatthis is what's best and it will pass and my health is way more important. I just question my deiscion right now. I'm not very happy. Maybe I will be in 6 months, but I think I just need to focus on getting myself thru this rough patch right now to make it thru to 6 months with my sanity in tact. So if anyone could lend me some support, or a shoulder to lean on I'd appreciate it. PS. Did anyone ever consider therapy? Last edited by Kenyar : 05-29-2007 at 12:43 PM. Reason: spelling lol! |

| Kenyar, I haven't been where you are but I certainly want to let you know I'm here for you. Lisa has told me that this happened to her too. She went and got weight management therapy. The psychologist at my surgery center told me that I may feel like I need to talk to her and that she was there for me. Did you have one at your surgery center? Why not give them a call. If your center is anything like mine, even the nurses would be good to talk to. This is their job and I am sure they have delt with this before. I guess I can only say, hang in there honey. The pro's on this board will tell you that it gets better every day.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | HANG in there this happens! JUST remember to eat the protein and your eating to survive!!!!!! SO being ur not that into the eating focus on the protein and getting the water in and u will be a fat burning machine!!!! YOUR going thru a very normal phase of haveing lost your best friend food and their is a greving time... i honestly had the ups and downs, bad mood swings and weepies for the entire first year and i was never like that ever! IF it really gets to u talk to ur doctor maybe meds are needed. At about 10 months out i did have councling with a weight management counclor to help me get thru being it was over whelming! THE good thing was the therapist i used had the sugery too so she really truly understood i felt.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Sorry to hear your feeling down right now---I hear it's normal to go through many different emotions. Here I am going through a melt down two days before surgery; and your feeling and going through a hard time at this stage. * "This too, shall pass".* And personally, I think going for counseling at any period in someone's life is a wonderful gift to yourself. I think you should do whatever will make you feel better to get you where you want to be. I'll be thinkin' of you and wishing you all the best!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I too am sorry you are going through this but from what I have read and hear its a normal feeling. I agree with Jeane see if you can talk to your psycologist. Mine has informed me that I will be seeing her regularly even after surgery. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Your going to experience the ups and downs but just remember how much heathlier you are now prior to the surgery. Tonight my son wanted a shake and I just kept telling myself that I had some fresh fruit salad waiting for me at home and when I got home I ate some of that instead was so proud of myself. Just know you can find low sugar and sugar free things to eat during those times. There is some ice cream sandwichs that are sugar free called Slim a Bear that are good and only 100 calories. Not saying eat it all the time but it works when your having those melt downs. |

| Super Moderator | ((((((HUGS))))))) It takes a while to adjust to the new you and the new life. Getting the blues is quite normal, and if you feel overwhelmed, it's best for you to seek help from the pros. Take things one day at a time, and here's hoping today's cloud will lift soon.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thanks everybody. I really do appreciate the kind words. I am so glad I found this board. You guys are the best. I am sure I will be back to my old self in no time. I just dont think I was prepared for the changes emmotionally. I have learned that while we are all anxious and ready for the physical changes, the mental side is completely separate and needs to be taken care of as well. Thanks again to you all |
