Unhappy Old Habits Creeping Up...I feel SO guilty

Today, for some reason I felt the need to test the waters and without thinking it thru COMPLETELY, I ate about a table sppon of rice with CHINESE FOOD (chicken and brocolli). I have not eaten fast food at all since the surgery. Never had the urge. To be honest I dont know what the heck compelled me to even do this and I KNOW it isnt a big deal on it's face BUT does this mean I'm slipping? I have a pretty good idea of what I can get by eating at this point; even though some of it isnt on the list. I mean conciously I want this surgery to be a HUGE success. I want to lose my 100 lbs maybe even more and be the healthiest, leanest me I've ever been. I dont want to screw it up before I even get started. Im not even two months post op and I;m already "sneaking things." I am SO SICK of grilled chicken breast that if i see another one I am going to scream.

I need an old timer to step in here and tell me that you did this. I mean I snuck something i am clearly not supposed to have until 6 months (as per my dr) , and I didnt get sick. Is this the beginning of the end for me???? Did anyone else have NO ISSUES eating things they werent supposed to? Did anyone else break the rules??

(this question is even better) Is it possible I broke my pouch? Because it isnt reacting the way my dr scared me into thinking it would. I havent puked or dumped or anything. granted this was my first time "cheating"...oh man! NOw that I think about it, while I dont really get hungry, I have not felt fullness since the first weeks. am i either not eating enough or is it stretched out??? Oh great! Now I am in panic mode....

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Kenya, take a deep breath. You are alright. Now you pouch isn't broken, I am reasonably sure of that. It is just curious. It was a trip and you are over it and going on the way you were. I am sick of chicken breasts as well. However, being on the carb detox got me into a lot of new things. I had a taco (Fr1endly2's recipe for taco shells is her cheese crisps) then I made a spring roll and that took care of the Chinese craving along with some egg drop soup, My italian fix is pizza, I bought the makings for my very own piece for this Friday night...I;ll make a cheese crisp out of mozarella in the shape of a pizza slice and put a T of sauce, 3 pepperoni, mushrooms, tomato, blackolives and a bit more cheese. One slice should really cure my urge or make me good and sick. The tacos were amazing though, I also made tuna casserole without noodle or rice. If you cook cauliflower from fresh and mince it and drain it really well, the tuna and a couple T of crm of mushroom soup and I swear it tastes like the old stuff. I have a lot more ideas now that I know about cheese crisps. How about manicotti? Or an chicken enchilada. or a bean and cheese burrito. I am just trying to be creative with what I love so I won't be tempted by what I LOVED...good luck!

OMG girl!!!!!! We were definately twins. I want answers too! I feel EXACTLY the same way. And what makes it worse, my daughter begged and pleaded to go to the Chinese buffet tonight! And we did!! lol I didn't really "cheat" so to speak, but I was sure nervous eating. They had some imitation crab and shrimp in butter. Which, I know for the most part, I can have that. And they also had this chicken on a skewer. And the seasoning was just a little sweet, so I thought I may get sick and I didn't. They also had some broccoli and chicken, and I ate a few tops from the broccoli. So, all in all, I didn't really "cheat", but I have the same feelings you are having. Why didn't I get sick? Although I never really feel hungry, I never feel full either. I'm sooo scared of the outcome of this too.

Chilly:
i really thought i was alone with this. Everyone else seems to be on their best behavior lol. I feel like i cheated only because it was fast food (and rice which is a no no) but I cant help thinking this isnt going to work for me. Im not far enough out to follow the pouch rules (i dont think) and do all that water loading stuff, but its definitely too early for me to be eating rice and idont want to do it again, BUT, i dont think about this stuff until AFTER and i dont want to ruin this. Ive gotten this far. I feel like one of those people who tried to talk me out of this by saying "why dont you just exercise" is gonna pop up and say "just dont eat it".....the saga continues.
colosn0w: good ideas i might try that. but all that cheese tends to "clog" me up and I am not allowed to take fiber or anything to regulate just yet. I could eat the crisp but i think the pizza might take me over the edge and I may never see a (BM) again LOL!

Kenya, I think we are pretty normal. And we all make wrong decisions at times. I think the important thing is that we have RECOGNIZED these problems, and are so worried about it that it will help keep up focused. We fell today a little bit, but let's just pick ourselves back up and do it right tomorrow. Ok? You have been sooo positive and strong, do not let this little slip up discourage you. THAT'S when we start having problems. Know what I mean? Tomorrow is a new day, we will try a little harder!!! ~~HUGS~~

Wink Kenyar!!

I'm sooo sorry you are stressing over all of this!
Just know, I TOO went thru all that you are going thru now. I'm sooo sorry that you are having a hard 'emotional' time. I also FREAKED out when I ate RICE too early....and I also only had about a spoonful....

I too didn't feel full - and questioned whether my pouch was working...(obviously it was....I've lost 148#'s...and am 35#'s from goal!)

Anyway....know, that you are NORMAL...and that you will have to deal with why you are a 'rule breaker'...but just know that YOU ARE!! Ha, it's just good to know so you can just deal with that "INNER REBEL".... (I'm one too....we have a lot in common GIRL!! LOL....)

I've really analysed all of this inner work with in my blog if you are interested...if not just know - I think you are amazingly courageous...and I'm thrilled that you are being sooo authentic with all of us around you! (And proud to share the SAME Surgi-versary!!)

Would you care to consider this a chance to learn it? It is a good chance, you know. For one, you can't binge eat because there's a limit to what you can put in your pouch at the moment.
On another note, go with the three bite rule if you crave and cave. Even if you cave, you can feel good that you kept to the rule.
Anyway, EVERYONE slips and slides once in a while. The point is whether you keep on slipping and sliding into a big landslide, or dust off your hands and get back on track and stay there as long as you can...till the next slip and slide.
Take everything one day at a time.
There's an old Japanese saying, "Even dust collects into mounds." It's the small things that build up, so it's the everyday that counts. If you took a holiday from your schedule, make sure it's just a holiday, and doesn't turn into a normal day.

You're doing fine, would you have thought twice about this pre op? You've probably changed there, and that's a starting point, the most important thing. Being honest with yourself, and venting to those who know, who've been there, done that, is the best way to keep on track.

Congratulations on making it through till today, and I'm sure you'll make it to where you want to go, too.

HUGS...yes this journey comes with lots of stressing moments and sometimes it can be an eye opener to our eating issues.
PERSONALLY for me i took at about 10 months out some weight management councling to help with some things. OUR surgery is only a tool and we have to use it the best we can and change our habits some
to be long term successful loosers.

I never stopped eating fast food thru my journey.....but i learned to eat foods that fit my new way of eating. A small mouthful of rice wont kill you and many surgeons dont say to not have it for six months...the only reason they say not to is that it can swell up in your pouch and hurt....
I know for me personally and chinese take out food, i have eaten it along
my journey and you know what 98 percent of the time i refunded it back up...its only recently had a meal that stayed down. I dont know why again and again i eat it knowing it did that to me but oh well.
I will say the first 12 months i really didnt do many carbs,I wouldnt eat bread, pasta, cookies, cakes. SINCE then i tested the waters and lost some control recently and for that im doing this CARB DETOX. FOR me i know when i put that stuff in my diet i start to crave and get that uncontrolable eating and were i am post op that can be dangerous.
OF course those foods dont fill me and i can eat more but when i eat as my pouch is designed for i fill out on tiny amounts of food.

YOUR normal. TRY not to deprive yourself but to make better choices
for me early post op i did this when eating some fast food places...
( i have 3 kids and work full time so we eat out tons)

WENDY's chile
TACO BELL pintos n cheese
KFC side mashed potatoes
PIZZA ate the topping off a slice till full

I am a cheaper person to dine out being most of these items are 99 cents appetizers. BY the way at any restaurant thats what i order appetizers verse full meals.

GOOD LUCK and your normal.
