Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Honey I think that is the Body Mass Index. It has a thing on there telling you what you should weigh for a person your height. Depends on if your called small medium or large. I suppose? That means bone mass. Mine would be a large. Let me explain that one! LOL im tall and besides that my wrist measure 8 inches with no fat on them. Im considered big boned. Between my heritage as a Cherrokee Indian and German both from my fathers side I got mine honest. Mother was irish standing at 5'2 and my das was Cherokee and German at 6'5. Quite a difference huh. The wieght problem was on my mothers side. So I would think they take all this into account? I was acutally meausred about 20 years ago by a family physican that had taken care of me since birth. He was the one that told me all this. This was the first time I had heard of BMI So I have to go on what I was told by a professional. Lets not even get into ring sizes with me ! LOL I hope this helped some. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | yeah see im havin trouble figuring out MY goals. I know my dr's but if this is going to work for me i need my own. and i dont even know what 150lbs looks like on me or if im supposed to really be 147 as i am told or 160. i guess its all preference but i would be curious to see what "size" someone like me is supposed to be. i am tall 5'9" and am looking at pictures of people on the board who are at goal, and im trying to figure out what mine should be...i guess the fact is that now that i am actually losing and its sinking in, i want there to be a plan. i dont want to just lose weight all "willy nilly" lol! i worry too much....lol! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I just did yours. 147-168 will be in normal weight range for you with out being overwieght. If you go toward the 147 side your close to underweight. You dont want that Im sure. |

| Super Moderator | Ladies, we have a resident BMI calculator here. BMI range 18.5-24.9 is normal range with 22 the median, 25-29.9 is overweight. Our site ticker isn't sophisticated enough yet to automatically bring up your BMI, but the one in Graphical Tickers for your Signature, Message Boards, Blogs and Web Page has that feature. My advice is to set your primary goal in the overweight range, and consider getting lower than that a bonus. Truth is, your body will settle at where it needs to, so if you set too rigid a goal, that can stress you out. Give yourself a leeway and when you get the extra, it'll be a boost to you spirit. Quote:
No need to stress out what's to come a while ahead from now, because you'll have plenty to do between now and then, just enjoy the ride you are on, and learn all the things that are good for your spirit, your health, and your body. Remember, a healthy spirit in a healthy body, and a healthy body with a healthy spirit. They go hand in hand. ![]()

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Very true. I think I am just concerned because my dr told me the first six months I should work my hardest because the lbs will fall off and we want to maximize the loss during this time. I'll be 2 months in two weeks and I have lost 41 lbs which i couldnt have done without the surgery HOWEVER others have lost more. I know i shouldnt compare and that we all lose differently BUT this is supposed to to be the time where I at least try to make the most of all of this. In terms of the goal, yes I want to be healthy, but I also like to push myself. Chances are I will probably like myself at a heavier weight than i have chosen for my goal, but its something to work towards. |

| Super Moderator | Your start BMI is a tad lower than most people. In general, the less total lbs you need to lose, the slower the going will be. The average in the window of 24 months is like the first half or a little less than in the first 6 months, the next quarter in the next 6 months, and the last quarter over month 12-24. So, if the total you need to lose is 100 lb, that's around 50 in the first 6 mo, if you need to lose 150, then 75 in the first 6 mo. See the difference? Personally, I think you're doing very well.
