Default Harmone changes for us older gals.

I am 57 and wondering if anyone out there that is past menopause and have had WLS experienced harmonal mood swings as much as some of the younger women and what they describe. Worse? Not as bad? Any at all? How long did it last? Do I need to prepare my husband for some major mood swinging? Thanks for any input on this.
Mattie

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

HEY MATTIE
im 45 and my mood stunk during the looseing.

I think it dont matter what stage of menopause or young
hormones are stored in the fat we are looseing and it
gets released all over the place creating havoc...
i would warn the hubby now and hey if you dont get
so bad then it will be releif...if you well you prepared him!

hugs

Hmm, if we have post ops who'd already in menopause pre op, I think there's only one or two, so I'm not sure how much response we can get.
Now, it is probable that you will have mood swings due to wacky hormones, because the hormones causing the wackiness comes from the stored estrogen in your fat cells. Fat cells are known to produce estrogen, though of course, not on the scale as by the ovary, but with a lot of fatty tissue, the concentration may be somewhat high, so, depending on how far out you are from menopause (meaning, if you'r under a year or so out) you may have some spottings, or you might even have TOM come back though not for long.
Best to prepare your husband, than to second guess and not say.
That way, if something happens, he'll be well prepared, if nothing happens, he'll be grateful that nothing happened.

Well, I had my surgerical entry into post - menopause 10 years ago when I was 42 -- it will be interesting to see how much estrogen is stored up and its effect on my mood swings .... I am a widow now, so the only ones to endure my mood swings will be my two black labs.... they may want to pack their bags...LOL
