Smile I finally saw my surgen for the 1st time!!

Yes...finally got to the 1st hurdle! If any of you remember on my other posts the anxiety that I had built up before meeting him, I just want to say I was worrying for basically nothing ! It went very good ! He wants me to see a nutritionist, which I think makes alot of sense. He wants to take tests like xrays , ultrasounds and a few other tests which he says is common practice. He says that he thinks the surgery would be great for me. He said I will live much better and longer if I have the surgery.
He didnt give me any flack about being 448lbs. He knew that Ive been big all my life. He which did surprise me , he didnt say anything about losing weight before my surgery. He did say that 2 weeks before surgery , I would be on some water and powder diet for 2 weeks nothing else to eat. I will not be seeing no sychiatrist. Insurance he said will not be a problem, which is very good! He said he knew I was serious about the operation just by talking to me. The operation I will be having is the R N Y Gastric Bypass, and that was the one I was hoping for. He explained to me his Operating history...ie his successes and he said he only had 1 failure. I thought this was really good that hes being honest and open with me !
The only little down part is I will have to wait about 6 mths. Dr said its the same for everybody...wait times in Canada are long , he said I might get an earlier call if theres a cancelation , When I told my family DR about the wait time he told me I was lucky...he says some peaple have to wait a couple of yrs sometime! So I feel very possitive about things now and a whole less stressful !

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Default Hey there Jerry!

Yup, over that first hurdle. Amen! You are right, six months is the norm. That six months though, and thinking back, went very very fast. For me, when I started it was latter Winter, so I didn't have to just sit in the house and think about it either. Being that Spring time is the time for most people to get out and enjoy all that it has to offer, I kept as busy as I could from month to month. Before I knew it, my dietician therapy was over with and my papers were sent off for approval. I only had to wait a month when I got my letter of approval. That was a day to remember, and yours will be to Jer. Keep us posted on anything else that goes right in your journey to the new you. Well, anything at all. Sometimes it isn't all good with some of the fellow board member, but as so many of us have said, we are one big happy family here ready to lend any support needed to have people feel more at ease with everything in there life dealing with whatever life has dealt them. HANG IN THERE JER, YOUR RIDE IS JUST BEGINNING. I am glad that we are all here to help you through it. mike

Congrats, you are doing well. Very glad to hear you and your surgeon hit off well, and that he is very compassionate.
6 months may seem long right now, but when you look back in the future, you'll find that it had flown by.
((((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

Hello there Jerry. I see your day came. I have been thinking about you all week knowing this week was the week you got to see your surgeon. First of all congradulations. You did it. I know you feel better emotionally now somewhat. I noticed on here we have a new fella with us who has had to wait now for 2 years to get worked in. Hes near London. They have uniform health care to.

Jerry the one thing you wont have to hurdle like we do in the states is the insurance issues. We have private poilicys here. Its not a goverment run insurance plan like your country has for every one. Now Jerry your life will be full now for the next few months doing test etc... And you have to think of it this way......If one of those test come back a little off........they have plenty of time to correct it before hand. And hey your only gonna be right behind me on mine. Remember im September. So I should be able mabye to help you some. Again Jerry CONGRADULATIONS!
