I got my approval. The clinic called at 10:00 a.m to tell me. They said this is a record. Less then 12 hours it took for the approval can you believe that? Now I call on monday to schedule my surgery. I think it will me next week friday. My birthday is saturday next week, what a birthday present for me huh? Now I need help. Please tell me what I am going to need food wise for the first few weeks.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hey Becka,
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! What an exciting and nervous time for you---I wish you the best of luck and look forword to hearing your surgery date.
As far as the food you will need, your surgeon's office will give you a paper on everything you should do the first couple of weeks post-op{or at least they should}. The first two weeks for me I could only have 2 ounces of ensure type drinks for breakfast, lunch & dinnner (6 ounces total) and water. Then at my two week visit, they gave me instructions to follow for the next four weeks of soft food diet.

Once again-----Congratulations

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
food wise, um....water, sugar free jello. crystal light or diet snapple.suagr free popsicles will come in handy for when you cant sip anymore but are thirsty. you really wont be "eating much" when you first get sent home.

Im trying to remember what else....but i cant. isnt that a shame? and it wasnt even that long ago. Your dr should give you lists for each phase. If i can find mine I will PM you what they gave me just as an idea. Every person I have spoken to has had a different meal plan lol. Gosh im so happy for you. You will do well I know it.

(((HUG)))
hard to be exact on what you will need being doctors tend to have different post op protocals....

i would check with your surgeon and learn the stages he requires.
FOR me it was 2 weeks clear liquids, then i moved to milk based liquids for a week, then pureed and then reg foods slowly

SO for me the first 2 weeks home i needed sugar free see thru clear drinks like propel, sugar free kool aide, crystal light, broths, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello...things like that.

HOPE i helps but people come home on all different levels...

Mu surgeons rules are clear see through liquid for a week then on to soft mushy food, his description says no lumps or bumps for 4 months then onto reg food. Thanks for y'alls help. I am just wanting to stock up on all that I'll need after surgery

Oh man!!! That is great news. I'm soooo happy for you. What a great birthday gift.
I had broth and crystal lite. The first week is a little tough. I had head hunger while still in the hospital. As I added, especially protein, milk etc. is when I started to feel lots better.
Keep in touch & congratulations.

Honestly Becka, if you buy a whole bunch of stuff you will get overwhelmed by it. I am still sitting on jello and chicken broth from when I first got home lol!!!!

Just get a few things. Also, not getting "everything" gives you an excuse to get out in those early weeks. You dont want to stay cooped up in the house. you'll need plenty of fresh air etc....just a thought.
