| Where did my hair go!?!?!?!
Hello all, I know I don't post as much as I used to, but just wanted to give you all an update on me.
I am doing well, still on my plateau, stuck at 173, but last month, my hair started falling out by the handfuls! I know I know, it is gonna happen regardless, I guess I am just really thankful that my hair was really really thick before the surgery, so you can't really tell, but it is so much thinner now than it EVER has been. But I went last Sat. and got a bunch of it cut off just to get the weight off. I will post new pics soon, maybe on my 5 month pics.
But I just wanted to let you all know that I look at the site every day even though I might not post, but you all are doing great! Hope you all have a great weekend, and I will post my pics in about a week and a half!
HUGS!

Ahhhh, ((((((((HUGS))))))))
So you've hit the point where your body is declaring your surgery a success...and revolting that things happened sooooo fast.
Stick to your program and you'll do fine.
Keep up the good work, way to go!! |

I haven't had the surgery yet, but twice I've lost about 65 pounds and lost the hair. It doesn't all fall out, just enough to scare you when it comes out in handfulls! And it all grows back. At least mine did twice, so don't worry. ;o)

Congrats on your loss. Sorry you've hit a stall. It's nice to see you pop in though. Sorry about the hair too, but from what i've read and my own atkins experience, it will come back.
I hope that all is well and am looking forward to the pictures! they are VERY inspirational.

JUST wanted you to read this on plataues phyllis:
And i have seen this on plataus and it makes much sense too:
Consider how difficult it is for you to run up ten flights of stairs
all in
one shot. Can you do it? I'm betting NOT unless you are a
top-notch-conditioned Olympian, right? Now, of course, you could
EVENTUALLY
get up those ten flights of stairs if you rested on the landings
periodically to catch your breath and pause for a moment before your
heart
explodes. you'd get up those stairs - but only if you rested on the
landings
or PLATEAUS.
Well, running up ten flights of stairs in one shot is what we are
asking our
body to do after WLS in the way we want the body to lose a massive
amount of
weight. As our body loses weight so rapidly, it occasionally has to
"rest
on the landings" to catch its breath, get its bearings, take a
breather.
Then once it feels rested, it takes another shot at dropping the pounds
again. It's remarkable that the body can drop so much weight so quickly
anyway after surgery. but it can't do it all in one long shot like
running
up ten flights of stairs in one long shot. It has to rest on the
landings
or PLATEAUS.
Keep this analogy in mind when you hit those plateaus. PLURAL.
PLATEAUS. No
such thing as ONE. you'll have many along your journey. When those
plateaus
hit, you still must do what you need to do. DON'T stop the good
nutrition,
the vitamins, the exercise. keep those routines going. And once your
body
is done "resting" in between the flights of stairs, it will kick in
gear
again for the next flight or two. And the more pounds that are dropped,
the
slower the pounds will drop too. so you will not lose rapidly during
that
last stretch of 25-30 pounds. it's like an athlete who gives his all
during
the race, sees the finish line in sight, and does all he/she can to
finish.
the muscles ache, the heart is about to burst. but the athlete DOES
finish
the marathon. some athletes "walk" across the finish line. but the
point is
they FINISHED.
Understanding plateaus will help you relax a bit and keep you from
self-doubt, which is something you don't need right now along your
journey.
hopefully it will help you thru the frustrating moment!

I am dreading the hair thinning stage but I am preparing, I have already begun to wear ponytail pieces and buns in my hair so it won't look so bad.

I had read about the hair lose on the boards here and about how biotin might help. Since my surgery is about a month away, I went and bought some of the biotin and started taking it last Monday. My hair is thin and "baby fine" so I will need all the help I can get. LOL

BIOTIN will help the new growth come in faster and nicer but it wont prevent the thinning.
I was on it before my surgery and did hve the thinning bad.
good luck and im sure it will be fine.
