| NOT surgery related but just got home from the ER....
Okay....well heres what happened.....
Wednesday morning my 12 year old indoor/house cat bobo was
relaxin on a window in my living room and accidently popped the
screen out and fell out. MIND you this cat never goes outside.
I tried to coax him to come in to no avail. I had to leave him being
he wouldnt come to me and go about my days work....that night
we couldnt find the cat anywhere. FINALLY on thrusday night
we found him behind bushes in my yard.......and I tried to catch him.
HE is so scared and terrified (sort of acting very skitish/ferril like)
and i got a hold of him however he turned on me and bit me and scratched me up some. I did have to let go of him because the bite
was a bit painful.
I tended my wounds, washed and treated them with neosporin. I did have to take tylnol before bed due to pain but wasnt to concerned. I woke this morning and the spot was swollen a bit and still causing me pain so i took some 8 hour tylenol and went about my work day. BY mid afternoon the pain was getting worse, use of my fingers was causing me an awful lot of pain, the spot was swollen more and very hot to the touch so i knew time to phone the doctor.....but of course its friday they were out of the office
early and i had to talk to a covering doctor that wanted me to go to the ER immediately.
SO i spent 4 hours there tonight....was a bit busy there. THEY put me on augmentine and drew lines all over the spot. IF the swelling worsens i have to go back and be admittied for IV meds tomorrow. SO i am hopeing the prescription meds help and i dont have to go back for IV meds and admission....never relized how dangerous bites can be!!!! BUT im alright now I will follow up tomorrow morning with my doctor as i was instructed
and hopefully the welt will go down by AM!
SO thought i would share
just a rotten experience. TO think for 12 years this cat has slept
at the foot of my bed and turned on me so easily!
HE is spooked outside......
SO thats my night....TIME to turn in
and i hope that the augmentine helps and i dont
have to be admitted for IV meds.....
time will tell.

I am not sure the cat is proly scared to death outside....
and afraid of everything so i think it didnt intentionally turn
on me. POOR thing is scared. BUT oh well its gonna have to want to walk in the house on its own i wont attempt to pick him up again.
THIS ordeal was enough for me.
ITs actually pretty painful.
thanks guys!

THANKS jerry...yes its strange when some of their
instincts kick in how they can act. ACTING like
i was a total stranger to it.....
thanks for the concern im just waiting for my doctors office
to open for a recheck this morning. I cant believe how painful
this bite actually is, ITs in my inside of my inner arm and movement
of the fingers cause intense pain.....so ill be off for a recheck this
am...the welt hasnt gone outside the drawn boarders so i dont think
i am worsening any!
ITs bad but now i have no desire to even try to catch the cat and bring him
in and my kids are pretty upset by this.....
tough call.

Yikes!!! Not fun. Sorry you had to go through all that.
You all have more patience then me with amimals. I got clawed and bit when I was a little kid by a barn cat and have stayed my distance emotionally from them since, all though in the feline defence I have met plenty of nice ones. It's the part about sleeping at the foot of your bed for the last 12 years and then being able to do that to you anyway. Guess they don't have to be any way else since they aren't human. And when I think about it...there are plenty of humans walking around that do worse lol.
Anyhow hope that you are on the mend Lisa & I hope you and kitty can get back together.
