Default Where Is My Energy??

I am 30 days post-op today; and I am getting very frustrated that I still don't have the energy, or feel well enough to exercise, or just go all day long without feeling like I have to lay down. Is this normal??
When I saw the Dr. at my two week appointment- he cleared me to go to the gym----but two weeks later I just have been unable to. Although, today I got on my recumbant bike here at the house and was able to do 20 minutes on it!

Just wanted to know how far out (post-op) others were when you started your exercise programs. And when you started to feel "normal"--( I still have soreness in my stomach and left-side). Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi. Sorry you're tired
I didnt start getting tired til a feww weeks ago myself. I was cleared to do "hardcore" exercise at 6 weeks but asked to walk immediately post op. I think maybe thats why i had so much energy from the start? Are you on b12 by any chance? I was taking the sublingual ones initially and i didnt feel like it was doing anything so i inquired about other methods with my dr. I found the shot to be a life saver, that and really focusing on getting in ALL of my protein. I feel like a new woman. I exercise for 30 minutes 7 days per week and i feel great.

Dont be discouraged. You are doing great at only a month out

The entire healing process takes about 3-4 months, and you are also losing while healing, so that is going to take up a lot of your energy. What you have left for extra activities may not be enough for you to be up and about and rarin' to go.
Don't fret too much, but be sure to get in the fluids and protein your surgeon has instructed you to.
Also, even if you are feeling tired, a little bit of exercise, just a little push there, may actually help in giving your energy level a boost.

((((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

((HUG)))
sorry to admit from my experience i was pretty easily
wiped out for about the first 3 months post op.
I had surgery in the hot season and most things i did
i needed rests. ALOT of healing is still going on even
though you feel no pain.

EVENTUALLY it comes back. BUT be sure your well hydrated everyday
and im sure soon your surgeon will check your bloods for deficiencies that
cause tireds.
I was only allowed to WALK my first three months....and swim....
MY surgeon didnt clear me for full gym for three months to avoid
a hernia of any kind during my healing. I carried my weight in the middle
GUT area and we didnt want me to have to undergo more surgeries.
HANG in there
and sorry you feel so but i had tireds the first summer all the time
but i just took it slo and easy and never over pushed. I listened to my
body!!!

Thanks kenya, doc and lisa---you really helped ease my mind. Following my surgeons plan I went from soft foods, to fish for one week, then this week I was able to introduce chicken. I still have another two weeks before I can take protein supplements and add any carbs to my diet. So, maybe that will help too. ( kenya---I take the b12 shots too---that's why after my first shot I thought I would see an improvement, but I guess it's just going to take me a little longer).
Doc and Lisa; Thanks for your posts---knowing that others take several months to be "rarin to go" makes me feel so much better. I went to the store the other day, after five minutes my stomach ached and I started feeling faint so I had to leave the store and come home. I started thinking that this is ridiculous, other people are up and running! But reading your responses I feel that I am not so unusual.
Thank you again!

me too. sip til you cant sip anymore !!!!! you will find that if you arent fully hydrated you get that sleepy or dragging feeling. i go thru bouts of being tired and then blasts of energy every now and then. i walked alot my first month (i was home on disability) so i had the time and the weather was nice.

as for the shots i have heard it does take some people a few doses to "feel it"

Keep up the good work!

It took me a good 6 or 8 weeks to get my engery back. I felt the same as you. But my surgeon office had warned it would take some time. And they were right.
