| I am home and doing great. I'm home and doing great! I got out of the hospital early Thurs. and then stayed in S.A with our best friends. Hubby felt safer staying there the first night becasue of bad weather and my friend has also had the WLS almost 3 yrs. ago and her husband is very knowledgeble on all of the stages. So then we came home yesterday and last night was my first night in my own bed. If anyone would ask me I could say so far my surgery and days since have been picture perfect. I am on stage 2 eating and having a hard time trying to figure out where to get all my protein. But other than that I am very good. I am eating cream of chicken , cr. of mushroom, sugar free jello, shakes (which taste yucky to me Now), Cream of wheat, but that's about it. I am tolerating everything very well, even skim milk. No problems whatsoever. Had my first cup of coffee this morning, UUUuuummmm soooo good. I was able to sleep on my side last night in my own bed and that was wonderful. Had resless leg syndrome really bad for a couple of hrs and then took some tylenol and that was enough to help me fall asleep. The pain meds the Dr. gave me when I was released was liquid loertab (sp??). OMG, the horrible nightmares, rapid beathing, nerve jumping was just horrible. I will never put another drop of that stuff in my mouth. Did not have a lot of pain. More it was just discomfort. Did not use much morphine and am using nothing now. God how I hope thie journey continues this well. For those of you that prayed for me my morning and day of surgery and myabe even since, I say a bgger than you can realize "A big thank you" . And how is everyone else doing? Have I missed anything about anybody's health? I truely hope everyone is OK. Love to all you guys. Mattie

Welcome home, congratulations on joining the Loser's Bench.
Thank you for updating us, and very very glad to know you are doing very well.
It sure must have been great for your husband to have your friend's husband brief him on what to expect. You know, it would be wonderful for your friends to come on board here, and for the husband to share with us his experience, as well as your friend sharing hers. Family and Loved Ones forum would be a great place for them to post, if they could post what each of them thought/felt about whatever happened, the differences in perspective and experience would be soooo much help to those who are trying to figure out how to work with their partners/S.O/D.H in dealing with all the changes.
Getting off topic, but San Antonio is a lovely city, I spent a couple of days there in May 2005 with CraigT and Leslie, and though Leslie had to do some work there, the 3 of us played tourist in and around town. I didn't know the Alamo was smack dab in the middle of the city now, rather than out in the wilderness |
