| Super Moderator | Chemistry Profile Comprehensive Metabolic Profile *Lytes = electrolytes, the major salts in your blood Na(natrium)= sodium Cl=choloride K(karium)= potassium *Glu=glucose *BUN=blood urea nitrogen, an indicator of your kidney function *calcium *Creat=creatinine, another indicator of kidney function *Alb=albumine, a kind of protein *Alk Phos=alkaline phosphatase, an enzyme and indicator of liver function as well as certain endocrine glands. *ALT =alanine aminotransferase, an enzyme that's an indicator of liver function *AST= asparatate aminotranferase, an enzyme that's an indicator of liver function *Total Bili=total bilirubin, bilirubin is greenish-brown pigment in the bile. It is an indicator of both liver and gall bladder function, is broken down into direct bilirubin and indirect bilirubin, the balance and respective amounts indicates what's the trouble where. The total of direct and indirect is called, yup, Total Bilirubin. *Total Protein=the amount of protein in your blood stream. Albumin is one of them. Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis CBC= complete blood count data of red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, etc. W/DIFF= differentiation of white blood cells, the ratio of the several types of white blood cells PLATELET COUNT= platelets are the blood particles most important in coagulating blood, in other words, stopping bleeding. PT(PROTHROMBIN TIME) PTT, ACTIVATED These two tests are to evaluate coagulation, whether your blood clots within a certain range of time. The normal ranges for the respective data should be printed on the result slip.
