Fre, I too had some of the reservations that you do. I was so worried that I would either be the person that this didn't work for or the person who gained most of the weight back. I just didn't think I could take that dissappointment in myself again. I am soon to have my surgery and am satisfied with my decision and know that I am making the right choice for me. I came to that conclusion by researching and researching and finding websites like this one where I could ask questions of people who had already done it, both long and short term. Then I asked my surgeon and his staff countless questions and I also read everything I could find on the subject. I would recommend Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies which is a clinical approach in layman's terms and Living and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery by Susan Maria Leach which is a compiled book of someone from personal experience who is over 5 years post-op. I can only say that you must make this decision for yourself and no one else and you have to be willing to make the committment for LIFE. It is easy to see that we can avoid a lot of problems just by following the rules after surgery but no one can predict unforseen complications. You just have to set yourself up in the most informed way you can and have a positive attitude. I wish you the best in your journey whatever you decide. |

I LOVE you!!! what you said makes me feel so hopeful, and so much like it is not "just me". especially the "FOR ME disorganization was a symptom of something else deeper. You owe it to yourself to look into it" part. the therapy will help. This is what I will address first. You've seen on HGTV or one of those cable channels that show "Clean Sweep"? Well I have yet to see a home as messy as mine. I have not cooked in months because I have not cleaned my kitchen in months, because I have not been able to stand at my sink long enough to wash dishes and because we have no garbage service so hauling garbage of to the dump is what I have to do but the bags, even double and triple bagged, smell up my Explorer so I wait on my husband to do it and that is rare. He's as lazy as I. I have a lot of "valid" excuses but do nothing to change things. It all seems so overwhelming. I miss cooking, I am sick of eating out and it costs so much money! thanks.... you are helping! best, Fre

I'm so glad you are begining to see that there is a light at the end. i've learned so much about myself and im only 3 months post op. you will too!! why not start one room at a time. start with the kitchen. this way you can start cooking again. cooking is important. You will learn portions and how to make dishes you like with a healthy twist. its a great time to experiment! no one says this has to be done overnight. take your time and when YOU are ready, take it one day at a time. If one day is overwhelming start with taking it hour by hour. but start The cool thing is that you see you have a problem. Thats the first step; admitting it. You're on your way Like i said, ive been there. if you ever have questions or anything send me a private message or email me or post, whatever you feel comfy with. I'm here |
