Unhappy depressed i guess

I dont know what section to post this in. I had lapRNY on June 26th, 2007. I lost 30 pounds in less than 2 weeks. Now Im stuck at the same weight since then. Im feeling like this weight will never come off. Ive never had luck with diets so I guess im feeling like i might fail again. Is this normal? Im going to my 1 month appt on July 26 and I probably will still be down only 30 lbs. I put the scale away cause it depresses me when it never changes. I think i look the same, my clothes still fit, im just feeling depressed i guess. Usually i would use food to cheer me up but i cant do that now.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Dear Angleluv73,

first of all take this comforting (((((HUGGGG))))) from me, second this is very normal feeling! check my early posts and Deborahs (FemmMode) we both had the surgery together like 1 day apart! we stalled like zillion times and we thought that this is the end of the world! I was personally thinking that my body is different everyone will get a successful WLS except me!

take this advice from me honey! forget about the WLS, forget that you're dieting or on a WL program. Trust me live your life and enjoy every minute of it. Keep your mind and body busy with something else! program your mind that you have just started a new style of life! a new you who loves to live every minute of it! hang out in the parks or go for site seeing, go shopping, enjoy work...I mean fill this void with something else that is not the food or the scale!

If you have the power to workout go ahead and do it! you have no idea how sport have elevated my spirits!! I had downs more than anybody else! swinging moods are very normal to me sometimes I truly hate myself!.

Listen to the music, dance, make new friendship, go to spa's have a body or foot massage!

you'll lose weight eventually, you know our bodies are sometimes stupid if you make a regular routine it will think that this is the normal case, go drastic and change it! second day you'll be stunned by the WL! and what I mean by change even to the extent that you eat one good heavy meal! believe me this worked with me! second day I lose 4-6lbs!!

lift your beautiful chin up young lady! you have such a beautiful face!
trust me this is a very short plateau and will go over it in a flash!

Love,
Hanadi

Honey im pre op but im here for support for you right now. I have read so many post about the same things. My turn is comming I know and I will post about the same things.

ON the clothes issue.....You know we make ourselfs fit into them at a certian point. LOL. I know I have. I know Kenya stated a few days ago she refused to go past a size 20 and kept herself there. What I have noticed in WLS patients is they wear the same size but you can tell at some point they have been stretched out. This is probally what your experiencing now.

I have seen other post in here stating they are standing still but to there amazment they are losing inches. Dont make much sense right now but... its very true. I have watched my best friend do the same thing. From one week to the next I was like WOW girl! She would most of the time say But i have only lost 1 pound or none. I would tell her well if the scales not moving your body sure is.

Keep posting and you will get the answers and support you need right now. Remember no question is ever stupid. I hope this finds you feeling some better. Remember it takes more muscles to frown than smile darlin. And i promise it dont hurt a bit. You take care .

Try to tell yourself When was the last time i ever lost 30 pounds in 2 weeks...thats an amazing jump start. It can get scary i remember but you will see those numbers changing and be amazed. Our bodies need time to catch up and heal and recover from the major surgery. Just keep following your program and you will see the results. Start to think about other things you like to do and incorporate them into your life. So when you are feeling depressed you have something to turn to instead of the food. We are here for you.

You are doing amazingly well! Cheer up sweety. it will come. your body is trying to adjust (I call it body shock) it will finally say ok, this is the way its gonna be..I got some work to do!

I was at 35 pounds loss my first month. Want a pick me up? go to the grocery store and group together 30 pounds of hamburger. TRUST ME it will make you feel better to see all that you have already lost.

Start walking. My biggest problem with being depressed was being in the house. just walk. down to the mail 2 or 3 times. up the street, anywhere! ooo~! and start sectioning out your closet. cause trust me you will be going through those clothes before you know it.

Your doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!{{{{HUGGS}}}}}}}

Wow. You have gotten a lot of great advice. I agree that the 30 pounds in two weeks is incredible. I also agree that this is temporary. Try to concentrate on the positives and you will get through this in no time.

Try to relax.. its normal to hit that plateau at about that time and you will do it again and again as time goes on. Your body is just adjusting and trying to compensate for the lack of food. Get out your tape measure and start doing measurements during the times you are not losing you will notice the inches coming off

hey there. chin up. i had a stall that bummed me out as well but you gotta look at it this way, for every HUGE chunk of weight you lose, there will be a period of catching up. i had/hae the HARDEST time with this part. but you will also see that while the scale isnt moving you are losing inches...which also works in your favor

keep your head up

heres my other post on stalls might help you:

Consider how difficult it is for you to run up ten flights of stairs
all in
one shot. Can you do it? I'm betting NOT unless you are a
top-notch-conditioned Olympian, right? Now, of course, you could
EVENTUALLY
get up those ten flights of stairs if you rested on the landings
periodically to catch your breath and pause for a moment before your
heart
explodes. you'd get up those stairs - but only if you rested on the
landings
or PLATEAUS.

Well, running up ten flights of stairs in one shot is what we are
asking our
body to do after WLS in the way we want the body to lose a massive
amount of
weight. As our body loses weight so rapidly, it occasionally has to
"rest
on the landings" to catch its breath, get its bearings, take a
breather.
Then once it feels rested, it takes another shot at dropping the pounds
again. It's remarkable that the body can drop so much weight so quickly
anyway after surgery. but it can't do it all in one long shot like
running
up ten flights of stairs in one long shot. It has to rest on the
landings
or PLATEAUS.

Keep this analogy in mind when you hit those plateaus. PLURAL.
PLATEAUS. No
such thing as ONE. you'll have many along your journey. When those
plateaus
hit, you still must do what you need to do. DON'T stop the good
nutrition,
the vitamins, the exercise. keep those routines going. And once your
body
is done "resting" in between the flights of stairs, it will kick in
gear
again for the next flight or two. And the more pounds that are dropped,
the
slower the pounds will drop too. so you will not lose rapidly during
that
last stretch of 25-30 pounds. it's like an athlete who gives his all
during
the race, sees the finish line in sight, and does all he/she can to
finish.
the muscles ache, the heart is about to burst. but the athlete DOES
finish
the marathon. some athletes "walk" across the finish line. but the
point is
they FINISHED.

Understanding plateaus will help you relax a bit and keep you from
self-doubt, which is something you don't need right now along your
journey.
