Default Ugh! I got the first (and hopefully last) set of foamies!

Hi all,

Well, I guess I learned first hand tonight why it's so important to cut one's food up, to take small bites, eat slowly and to chew, chew, chew. I made this lovely little stir fry for my evening meal: shrimp, asparagus and a tiny bit of rice. I've made this and enjoyed it before, very yummy and loaded with protein and all approved by my NUT/Doc.

I guess I didn't cut things up well enough, ate too fast or didn't chew well enough because a few minutes into my dinner I could feel this painful thing caught in my throat, esphogus (spelling, sorry!) and belly. It took about 45 minutes to pass, but now I'm drinking my water and it's begun to subside.

I see first hand why it's called the foamies. Not to gross you out, but it looks a little like an egg white. Okay God, lesson learned! I won't make that mistake again.

I will cut my food better. I will eat more slowly. I will chew, chew, chew. And I will take small bites. GOT IT NOW!

Amy

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

its when you throw up foam. not so much the food you ate but a foamy substance. i got them a couple of time early out when i didnt chew, specifically with beef, and broccoli spear but i suppose anything that doesnt sit right could cause it. I dont know why it comes up "foamy" maybe doc could explain the medical background, but ive seen lost of people post about them and the one thing in common is the possibility of not chewing correctly....and then right after you feel fine lol!

its GREAT!!! lol. im kidding. there are a couple of things a long the way that let you know to slow down, pay attention to your body and what it needs and this is one of them. i am grateful for both experiences (dumping and foamies) they help keep you in check

You guys are just a regular Encyclopedia Britannica of the side of WLS no one wants to know about! On the other hand, I am so grateful for all of you because I am so much better prepared for what is to come than I would have been if you weren't all so graphic. I think I agree with Kenya, I would rather these things happen from time to time to keep me in check. Don't want to get too cocky along the way.
