Default Could be the answer to why your hair fell out.

If you drank tea and stopped due to surgery this could be the answer to why your hair started coming out. Black tea is a dietary rich source of Rutin. While lowering your blood pressure Rutin is also known to strenghten hair and nails. Another source of Rutin can be found in apple peel.
When i think about it my hair has been coming out since i stopped my cup of tea so this for me could be the answer. So i'm gonna start taking Rutin along with Biotin. I'll let you know how i get on.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Nope, I think it might have been the anesthesia or something. I was a big Diet Coke drinker before surgery. Can't stand tea unfortunately. I might check into the Rutin though. I've been taking Biotin since before surgery. Thanks!!!

I am almost positive it is directly linked to the rapid weight loss. i did atkins once before. And i stayed in the induction phase ( no carbs and no sugar JUST PROTEIN and some fats ) longer than i should have because i got results QUICKLY. and my hair fell out then too! I suspect it will take a few months to slow down because we have this malabsorption issue and will continue tolose weight rapidly for a period of time. but im almost sure its the weight loss. once it slows down the hairloss will as well....and i never drank tea a day in my life lol!

I don't know about the tea but I do know that losing weight quickly and the malabsorbtion issues are the reasons the bariatric surgeons give for the hair loss. It has something to do with a certain vitamin that you don't get enough of but I can't remember which one it is. Perhaps Doc can help?

Well it maybe just a crazy idea but i do know of someone else that was loosing their hair and starting taking Rutin for something else and their hair started getting thicker again. She also thinks it was round the time when she switched from black tea to green tea. It maybe that tea is a much bigger thing in the UK and we get alot of our Rutin from that, but if you guys over there are not having something that you regularly did, that contains alot of Rutin it be worth looking into. I just found it present in alot of supplements for Hair, Nails and Skin so i'm guessing there might be something in it.

"Rutin can combine with cations, supplying nutrients from the soil to the cells in plants. In humans, it attaches to the iron ion Fe2+, preventing it from binding to hydrogen peroxide which would otherwise create a highly reactive free radical that may damage cells. It is also an antioxidant, and therefore plays a role in inhibiting some cancers.
Rutin also strengthens the capillaries, and therefore can reduce the symptoms of haemophilia. It also may help to prevent a common unpleasant-looking venous edema of the legs. Rutin, as ferulic acid, can reduce the cytotoxicity of oxidized LDL cholesterol and lower the risk of heart disease."
"Rutin is found in many plants, fruits and vegetables. The richest source is buckwheat, the flour of which is used to make pancakes. Rutin is also found in citrus fruits (Orange, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime), noni, black tea, apple peel."

Basically, it's the rapid weight loss, due to whatever.
It isn't the surgery it self, it's losing your weight at a rapid rate that your body can't catch up with some things, so, leaves things that aren't crucial for supporting life to the last.
As a lot of you have done diets that resulted in rapid weight loss, like Atkins and South Beach and whatever, you would have experienced hair loss as well then.

When you are losing weight rapidly, obviously, you aren't getting in the total amount of nutrients you need to support your *present* weight, so your body uses the fat and nutrients stored up in your body as extra weight, to keep you alive. That's why you lose your extra weight. During this phase, the vital nutrients will go first to wherever they are needed to keep you alive. Then next to where you need it to keep you healthy. What's not crucial for your life is going to be left to the last--so it's the first to go. Hence, you lose your hair, your body doesn't need it just at this moment to keep your body going.
Once you're done with losing all the weight, your body gets the chance to catch up with the things that it had to neglect up to now, and your hair will start coming back.

Of course, that doesn't mean you can neglect the protein and vitamins and supplements that you are supposed to get in, rather, as a lot of you have experienced, keeping up with the nutrients you are supposed to will help you keep the loss at a minimum, and also help in bringing it up to speed, once your body can afford to.
