Default Dr. released me but I am bummed out

Well guys yesterday was 4 weeks. I had my followup today and Dr. is pleased with my progress. Wants to exercise more but I have a bad hip so water exercise is all I can muster. He gave me a script for water aroebics. SO maybe that will help. BUT I just can't get past soft food. If I try meat or fish it sticks and hurts like He _ _ when it pushes thru the opening in my pouch. ANd that is soft meat really mushed up and moist. He said just give it time. If it is not better in one month they will check it. So am I being a little impatient because some of you seemed to be able to do this by 4 wks. Am I right? Do you all remember what you were able to do at 4 wks? Kind of bummed out here. Mattie

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Mattie, i wasnt even tolerating the darn chicken puree at 4 weeks LOL! i couldnt handle it. and then miraculously at 6 weeks i graduated! you keep trying and eventually it sits right. its tough at first. take it easy. let your doc monitor it to make sure you dont have a stricture and you will be fine. dont rush it lol. and listen to your gutt; i mean that figuritively and literally

Mattie: That doesnt sound too off. 4 weeks is very short and your body may take longer to adjust. At 4 weeks I think I started eating chicken and fish and I had to chew, chew, chew and sometimes it still bothered me. It will be better soon. I promise.

Thanks girls but you know what? I just read the update on Boots and I am not EVEN going to complain about anything. Bless her heart. I am doing just fine. I will be more patient. I just want her and the rest that just had surgery Monday (Ladyhawk and Beckamarie) to get all the good vibes and care. Not me, I'm good. Mattie

I see no harm in giveing it a few more week before he goes in to check anything out.
USUALLY early out its hard to figre out what works best.
ITS trial and error and from experience one day something
was fine another it wasnt never a rhyme or reason!
hugs

I agree with previous posters, give it a little bit of time and then bam it will sit fine.

I also agree with the others. Give it more time. I was the same way. Chicken and eggs just did not go well with me at all. I waited a while
and then down the road they were better. It just takes time. Hang in there.

Wink Hey Miss Mattie!!

Glad to see you are gonna take it a little easier on yourself....

I think I was 5 - 6 weeks before I tried chicken or turkey....but can't really recall. Before that - I concentrated on fish...shrimp....crab. I have a great shrimp salad recipe that fits in the "pureed" category that I ate ALL THE TIME with multi-grain saltines. (loved that....)

The other thing I ate a ton of what the Noodle-less/Meatless Lasagna.....with fat free Ricotta....sauce and mozzarella

_________________________________________

Shrimp Salad/Spread

1 lb. of shrimp (cooked, peeled, & deveined)
1/4 c. Light mayonnaise (I prefer Hellman's)
Juice of 1/2 lemon, (about 1 T.)
2 green onions (scallions), sliced including green tops
1 teaspoon of Old Bay Seasoning (I sometimes switch out a variety of different seasoning...but it changes the taste sooo much. Old Bay is my favorite.)

Cook the shrimp just opaque. (you can boil - but I prefer sauteed in a 1/2t. olive oil - it concentrates the flavor of seafood & gives it another layer of taste) Transfer to a small bowl and set aside. Blend the mayo, lemon juice, green onion, and seasoning in a food processor until smooth; add shrimp and pulse until they are very finely chopped and the mixture is well blended. Cover and chill.

WLS 1/2 c.. portion: Calories-115, Fat-7g, Carbs <1g, Protein- 12g

Makes 2.5 cups

LAYER:
  • Pasta sauce
  • Ricotta
  • Pasta sauce
